yea the arrest, and 16 month suspension was so classy for the sport and his fans.

Is it easier now to believe he was over it last year? I just don't think it's easy for a guy to refire as hot as before if he's already made that call.

Let me start by saying that I used to be a big fan of RV. When i saw him ride at the mxdn back in 2006 i was completely sold. What he did back at the mxdn in 2007 was incredible. I did not really care about his attitude towards it all. For him motocross is a job, so i can understand he is not really that crazy about it. I really liked his skill on the bike.

Needless to say i was very happy when he lined up at the first GP. I did not expect him to completely destroy the opposition, but i really gave him a chance at the tittle. In my book he is one of the best riders ever. But i'm really bummed at how it all turned out. Not only bummed about his crash in Italy and his injury, i'm really disappointed in his attitude after his crash. Is it really that hard to let the fans know what the plans are ? Is it really that hard to keep his team up to date on what is going to happen next ?

Do you guys know what the rumours are on the track ? Well.. people say the RV isn't injured. That his injury is just an excuse not to ride anymore. That it was all decided beforehand. That, if he would see that he was not strong enough to become world champion, he would fake an injury just to get out of it.

Can you blame the guys who started these rumours ? Well... i'm afraid not. All RV has to do is keep us updated but in refusing to do so he is actually feeding the rumours. How difficult is it to post a tweet on how you are doing ? How difficult is it top update the facebook page with news if you started riding again ? How difficult is it to post some news on your own website with what the plans are next ?

There are several reasons why those rumours start. Here are a few...

1. The crash in Italy looked really painfull, and i'm sure he hurt himself. But is he really not able to ride ?
Only 1 week after his crash RV was seen in Valkenswaard riding around on his pitbike. So only 1 week after his crash he could allready sit down. We are now allready 9 weeks after his crash. Is it really still impossible to ride a dirtbike ? Have you seen in what state other riders are ? They are riding... so why can't RV ?

2. RV went to a doctor in Belgium who, on april 23rd, confimed that RV had broken his tailbone in 4 places. Now, I know that doctor well. He's an expert on motorcross riders. I think almost every GP rider goes to that doctor. Not only GP riders, Dean Wilson made the trip from the states to Belgium to visit that same doctor back in April.
So far so good. But then RV goes for another opinion back in the USA and over there the doctor says that he has not only broken his tailbone but that he also compressed his L4 vertebrae in that crash. Well... i don't believe for 1 minute that the doctor in Belgium did not see that. Is it true ? Or is it an excuses not to show up at the startline ?

3. Look at that picture taken last weekend. Does he look hurt to you ? I'm not saying he is 100% but i'm sure that if Cairoli can ride with a busted elbow and 2 broken bones in his hand, RV can ride as well.

I understand the statement that RV owes us nothing. Is that really so ? If there were no fans there would be no professional mx riders. RV has made a lot of money. He's only 26 and he has made enough to sit on his ass for the rest of his life. We have not payed him, but if it weren't for us he would not be the milionair he is today.
And maybe he owes us nothing. But doesn't he owe the team ? Shouldn't he be telling them what the plans are ? It can't be that difficult, can it ?

I really think RV underestimated the challenge of the GP circus. Hell, even i thought he was going for the title. And yes, he maybe won a GP but he did not dominate at all. Worse, after only 7 moto's he was allready 1 moto behind in the point standings. I bet he didn't expect that. I know i didn't. So now people start saying that his injury is a cover not to ride again. Maybe if RV would keep the fans updated rumours like that would not start.

I really hope to see RV back in the GP circus. I really was looking forward to see him tackle Lommel. But if he only comes back for the final GP in Glen Helen he might as well stay away all together. I really am not waiting for him to show how fast he is on home turf. I know he is fast there. I wanted to see how he would preform elsewhere.

Rv lost a fan in me. I know he doesn't care, i know he will not loose a minute sleep over it. But i really think he could be a little more friendly towards his fans.

It makes Kenny's decision to leave Aldon look more like the right thing every day.. and to think that RV missed so many seasons , either outdoor or SX over the course of his career too.

Cant knock his ability , but if you don't want it , you don't want it.

Maybe he's sick of all the fan BS and random speculation and ready to get on with enjoying his life.

Funny how "fans" always want what THEY want and rarely give any consideration to what the object of their adoration or scorn might want to do.

Go out at the height of a career and the fans complain they wanted one or two more years. Go out when you're past your prime and the fan complain that they should have walked away when they were on top.

No win situation.

Fan boys need to grow up and get a life of their own and haters need to go back to the mall and make fun handicap people, it's about their speed.

Have a nice day.

What the fuck is RV supposed to say? " Well gee guys , I'm just hanging out at a local track today watching my little brother ride and yes my tail bone is still broken "

Did you guys need a full report on what he ate last night and how many times he wiped his ass this morning after taking a healthy shit?

The guy broke his tail bone in 3 spots. He's waiting for it to heal. What the fuck else do you " need " to know?

Geezuzz!
I suppose these squids here would rather have a "fuck you and the scooter you rode in on" as opposed to nothing at all.

Jeezus christ, Ryan has given the "fans" years of some of the best racing ever seen, sacrificed life and limb, had multiple injuries and surgeries, worked his ass off in the gym for years, and it's still not enough for a bunch of guys sitting at a keyboard. Because he hasn't posted a Fucking tweet.

Hang it up Ryan, these idiots don't deserve you.

It doesn't take much to just give a bit of an update. Don't expect him to release a statement every week, but it's been about 6 weeks with absolutely nothing at all. I don't care whether he comes back or not, but there are people that do, and those people are getting fewer and fewer

To read these comments is absolutely mind numbing. "I'm no longer a fan because RV hasn't tweeted anything for weeks"
"I've lost all respect for Villopoto because he hasn't updated me on his ass"

I mean seriously, just sit back for a second and think about how ridiculous that sounds. He's done plenty for me as far as entertainment over the years, I'm a huge fan and I don't feel he owes me a Fucking thing. He crashed his brains (ass) out trying win a race in a series he's never raced on a different continent.. He deserves respect not a bunch lame insults. Think about it.

1. I didn't know Villopoto had sacrificed his life, and as far as I know, he still has all his limbs.

2. He is a multi-millionaire at the age of 26, and will never have to work a day in his life again (if he doesn't blow it.)

There are an awful lot of people who have "given" a hell of a lot more to causes then he has given to moto, with a hell of a lot less to show for it than he has, and who have a whole lot better attitude about it.

I'm not sitting on pins and needles waiting for any updates from him, I just think it smacks of unprofessionalism to not even give updates on his condition and/or progress, in an age where doing so literally takes a few seconds and a few keystrokes. Makes zero sense from a PR/marketing point of view.

Even if he doesn't care what people think, there is no reason to tarnish his legacy and go out like this (if this is in fact how he goes out.) You can't blame a guy if he is burnt out and done and over it all, but for the love of Pete, at least try to end it with some class and dignity so that is how you are remembered when you are gone.

Then go into the woods and hunt and fish to your hearts content and never talk to another human if you so desire.

Just my thoughts on it.

You guys are right, when you bump into RV next time let him know we are all good, we don't need any updates anymore.

We will just pay attention to the professionals who are professional from now on!
6/22/2015 2:31pm
RV does not care about records.

RV does not care what people here or elsewhere think.

RV does not care about Matthes.

RV does not care about fans.

RV does not care about team.

Why is everyone so flummoxed about this? It's what allowed him to go over and risk everything in the first place. He don't care. And maybe it's all over but for the check cashin', contractual obligations that got him across the pond in the first place fulfilled.

I don't care if he updates anyone or not, I'm just pointing out in this thread that it is dumb and unprofessional for anyone in his position to not communicate. His web guy could do it for him, he wouldn't even have to lift a finger.

I've never really been a fan anyway, I'm just saying it's not difficult to just give those who have supported him throughout his career a little bit of a update, or some form of communication. It's not about whether he owes anyone anything, it's about being appreciative and thankful for the support that thousands have people have chosen to give him. And in a way I think he does owe them something, he would've still been as successful without the fans, but if it wasn't for them you can guarantee he wouldn't have earned as much money as he did. I won't ever deny the guys talent, but I have absolutely no time for him

I will concede it's strange we haven't heard anything, however, the point for me is, after all these years he's done plenty, and people flip out, "lose respect", "no longer fans" after a couple weeks of not getting "their" updates.

So Aldon Baker goes on PulpMx to update the situation, and a transcript of the interview is posted on RacerX, and obviously that is not enough for you. However, if his web guy were to post the same update on his website all would be cool?

And fair play to you for that. But I can see why some people are a bit pissed that he doesn't seem to really care about the support that they have given him

well like i said , that is Aldon , not RV or the team , last mention of RV on the KRT website is May 20th , saying he wont be at Matterley... since then ,, not a word , nothing .. zip .. nada .

So either

1, KRT doesnt know what is going on

2, KRT knows and is choosing to say nothing

3 KRT are trying to find out , and are looking at ways to make that happen.

We know Tomac is out for ages , same for Canard , and thats not a secret, this is almost as bad as the JS thing as far as a publicity screw up is concerned.

I'm sorry that KRT hasn't updated their website for you. You can check out Pulp or Racer X for the latest on RV. He's having some nerve issues stemming from disc damage incurred as a result of the loopout heard round the world. He's not back on the bike yet, and once he is able to start riding again it will take further time to get him back up to speed. Feel free to copy and paste what I just wrote via instatweet on KRT's facegram account.

I had a girlfriend in Olala, WA for a couple years and have been to Ryan's hometown several times.
I also have been a diehard Kawasaki rider my entire life.
So it should have been easy for me to be a fan of Ryan's or at least kind of root for him, but kind of like dumping that hot blonde everybody else is drooling over. I just, for some odd reason never found myself liking him as a professional MX racer.
The first time I ever saw him race in person was at Lake Whitney, Texas when he was just an amatuer on Team Green, and I will say this, I was like, ........Holy Shit!!! This kid is fast!!!! He impressed the shit out of me, thats for sure.
But, when he turned pro, I don't know, just never really rooted for the guy. Oh well, I wish him and his family my sincere best.
I still have much respect for what he accomplished in this sport.
