I blame this 100% on track Prep. There is no damn need for braking bumps as big as a small child, and ruts 2ft deep. They must rethink how they prepare the track in the mornings. That track had some of the squirrelliest ruts I've ever seen. I don't care to watch 15mph racing around half the damn track. There has been WAY to many Injuries for this early In the season. I'll be watching only the GP's from here on out.

Can I blame all my crashes on track prep because it wasn't perfectly smooth?
Yes, every bone I have broken has been due to a kicker because the track didn't set the track up for me Grinning

Health 1st of course, but I simply know that money rules everything these days and I understand his decision.

I love watching Tomac and have since he was on 85s. I have never seen anyone faster/better and I am nearly 50 years old.

The worst news ET and the entire MX world could have gotten for the 2015 season.

Tomac is by far the fastest in the 450s and Webb is the only one who could have challenged Martin IMO.

No Tomac, Canard, Villo, Stewart, etc. No series!

250s Martin will crush unless he wads it up!

I have to think that this was a business decision though period. I am just guessing and I certainly don't know the complete doctors findings, but I'm sure that he has signed his Kawi deal!

You seriously think this was a "business decision"?Woohoo I honestly don't even know what to say right now. . .
Perhaps a business decision in the sense of 'I'll have a much, much better career by getting this fixed and recovering properly than by attempting to ride injured'. I would call that a wise decision.

My stomach knotted up when I read the topic ... So bummed for Eli right now. ET has a lot of talent and was on his way to the record books with this season. The fact that he has to have surgery on both shoulders makes it even more difficult. My hopes and prayers that both surgeries go well and he bounces back 100% by the time next season rolls around. Still can't believe he swapped out like that. Thunder Valley is one tough track.

Well it seems this has played right into Mr. Consistencies favor. I said it after the first race to my MX watching buddies that it was just a matter of time before Eli crashed his brains out especially at that speed. His fitness and bike setup have been spot on allowing him to go blazingly fast but he has had crash problems in the past and yes they carried over from SX to MX.
Dungey doesn't care if you win by 2 minutes or 2 seconds because he will take second place over crashing any old day because he knows in the points it pays the same.
He reminds me of the way I invest money. Conservative for the long haul.

You got to be in it to win it !

I was going to go with the 'ole standby "4 strokes caused this shit" but the whole blame the track thing works too. Can we blame the 4 strokes for making the track that way, implicating both?

I'm gutted for ET3. Sad

aint that the truth Ruth.....

Eli has been very impressive this season... as he has in previous seasons.... but isnt this exactly the same topic that people have been discussing about JS7 for all these years?............ I dont want to say things like 'riding over his head' etc....... but logic dictates that there is a balance to be found between speed and longevity

this is crap for Eli and for the series and I hope he comes back fit asap

"whatever"
The tracks are not "ruffer" and the competition is not better.

I was going to go into this big explanation of tracks today compared to tracks of yesterday. I'm not gonna waste your time.
He had a bad race day. The track was equal to everyone.

Get well soon ET....effing sucks! you were easily the baddest mofo on two wheels in the outdoors this summer....

you could just duct tape it and rub some dirt on it like the legends from the 70's and 80's would have done...

in all seriousness, heel up fully and quickly before you come back and kick ass on the green machine

You nailed it... (the photo). I am not really even a Tomac fan but was loving the way this season started.. He was making the racing exciting. I know there is a lot of fast riders on the gate, but Davis is right here, this season just got a lot more predictable Sad

Major bummed especially considering he would have been a star on our MXdN team.

This sucks. no way he is going to be ready for sx especially if he is switching brands.

I had shoulder surgery in January for a torn labrum and still can't ride for another 3 weeks minimum. I wasn't even able to drive with my left arm until about the 4 1/2 month mark. I know he will be able to heal a little quicker then me because of the personal around him, best doctor and stuff.

Don't know how sx in 7 months is possible unless he is doing both surgeries at basically same time which would mean double slings. Even if he could get back to riding at speed in that time it leaves very little room for testing. From what I'm hearing in here it sounds like he is going to kawasaki which just released a completely new bike today which also does not help with testing.

Tracks and bikes fault as always. Maybe just Eli have to calm down a bit, he rides so freaking agressive when he doesn't need to. A bit like barcia? Look at Dungey that dude is just smooth and he barely makes mistakes. Eli should and ofc he could be one of the best if he just settle down ( thats just my opinion)
