The only perks I ever used were Scrub Master (for obvious reasons) and Clutch Master because I only rode 250s, and the clutch-boost from the 250 was WAY bigger than from the 450, and the bikes are the same speed. With the Clutch Master perk on, you could get a gnarly boost from just a tap of the clutch button, which made the 250 way faster than the 450 IMO.

I used the same perks and rode a 250 for the longest time for the reasons stated. My buddy kept telling me I'd be faster on a 450 if I'd take the time to adapt to it. I've found the 450 to be more planted in the rough stuff, but not nearly as flickable in the air as the 250. I struggled to adapt to the 450, but once I did, I was able to really start dropping my lap times. I was around a 1:15 at Les Champs on the 250, and got down to a high 1:12 on the 450. The key to the 450 vs the 250 is almost opposite of what it is in real life. With the 450, momentum is key. The 250 is more of a point-and-shoot with a dab of the clutch. The 450 clutch boost works good, too, but you need to delay releasing the clutch a bit longer than on the 250. You almost need to wait until you're entirely on the ground, then release it. The 250 clutch boost still works a bit better, which is why I always rode a 250 on the SX tracks since they were more technical. That, along with the fact that I feel it cornered a bit better and was overall easier to maneuver. In the end though, it's rider preference and whatever feels best to each particular person.

BTW, are you on XBOX or PS3?
BTW I originally only rode 450s, then only 250s, and now I switch back and forth a bit. I mostly prefer the 250 because it's easier for me to "flow" on it than the 450, for whatever reason. On the 450, I can go fast, but I'll inevitably make a mistake which I can't recover from, which kills my lap time. With the 250, you have a little more margin for error.

I play reflex most. Yet still play untamed each week and Alive also but not as much. I really didn't want them to bring back pogo stick preload. I would prefer no preload, but if we had to have it I would like it like Alive.

Regardless I am excited to pick it up. I play and enjoy Supercross aspect most on every moto game I have played. As long as their are rhythm's to master. To choose to risk going for the big risks or to the more consistent options, I will enjoy it. I know I will end up back to Reflex eventually, however 45 dollars in Australia for 17 supercross tracks I can' t complain. As long as there isn't 10 basic tracks and 7 technical.

bingo.

i just view at it as investing in mx games in general. if it tanks, the genre is dead in the water.

they have to see some hope in the genre to even greenlight another game- which should hold improvements.

At least some of you guys get it. I don't think $30 is going to break most people, maybe skip your case of beer for the week....

I am hopeful mxgp releases version 2 in a few years with improved bike physics because this is a great game also.

Yeah but isn't that partly why we keep getting kinda same results?

I've been buying rainbow stuff since motocross madness. I thought reflex was the best go at it. The potential has all was been there to balance all the aspects of real moto and make it fun, but they have never worked out the quirks.

Never ever had understood why braking has never been a important aspect in their games.

I've pre-ordered it, but I'm not expecting much. I find any MX game fun though, especially when there are some good battles going on online.

Hopefully Nordic have recognised some of the faults with this one already and know exactly what they want to do with the next game.

OP So I' ve asked a a few people that have the game about your claim that only the winner finishes the race, and they all assured me there is 45 seconds to finish after the winner does. Online and offline.

This game was made using old code though, so you really can't judge how the series will do under Nordic by this one game. My understanding is that if SX sells well enough they will be making one completely from scratch. That is why we should all buy this one regardless of your opinion of it. You don't buy it, we may not get another game.

Indeed. $30 is nothing for a game these days. MXGP has been referred to as "MXGP 14/15" recently depending on where you look. So they could very well turn it into a yearly thing like MotoGP is. We'll just have to see.

Can't wait to pick it up. Every moto game has its flaws, including the almighty REFLEX. I'm a fan of the series and I want Nordic to pursue more games into the future. Plus $30 is pretty dang cheap compared to other new games that come out.

Edit: Anyone can find and add me on PSN. I think it's Ur_a_Towel505

I selected the 2 day shipping also wonder if it will ship before release date or not. I'm forced to purchase the disc since I have limited HD space only 20GB. Last game I ordered from amazon came a week late was the free shipping though. Disappointed there was no release-date delivery.

The way I read it was you would receive it on release date. I'll go back and re-read it in a minute.

This is basically the Supercross package that THQ was going to release for MX Vs ATV, so we will buy the game, again, and be expected to say nothing bad about it.

In my opinion, Nordic didn't buy the franchise to ever make a new game. They will release what they got when they bought it from THQ, make a quick buck, and we won't ever see them again.

That theory might work if SX didnt already have different physics than Alive, and all the tracks were built from scratch.

IGN covered what they did pretty well.
Buy old code, pretty it up, change a few things and release it as "new".

If they made it from the ground up, it would've made more sense to make it usable on the next-gen systems to give it a longer "shelf life."

How would making a niche game for an install base of 12 m units make more sense than last gen with an install base of 120m ?
If they had made it from the ground up next gen would have made more sense, cause the game wouldnt have come out till 2016.

Why not release it for the PS2, seeing how it has a 155 million install base?
You must be young, and it's nice to see a young kid try, but this is basically the Alive DLC.

I'm not saying it won't be fun, but call it what it is.

So we're getting a new game that people have been asking for since forever, and yet you still manage to find something to bitch about. Great.

The fact is if Nordic had never bought the rights to the code, game, etc. these tracks would never have seen the light of day, DLC or not. I'm happy, just like most people, that we even have the opportunity to play this material. Take your whiny crap somewhere else.

Every 5 or 6 years your favorite console becomes virtually obsolete. It makes very little sense for the "shelf life" of a game to develop for an obsolete console unless you want to be a "flash in the pan"/save money.

If they had made it from the ground up next gen would have made more sense, cause the game wouldnt have come out till 2016.

Bungie was able to develop for PS3, Xbox360, Ps4 and Xbox1. It's more likely that Nordic didn't want to pay licensing fees etc for any more consols, because this game is only meant as a fast money grab and a market test. Seeing that things such as error & omissions insurance costs about 700 dollars and overall costs on a tiny game rubs close to 5k, most smaller developers and indie developers limit themselves on systems.

I'm not saying it won't be fun.
And I'm not saying not to buy it.
I am saying watch out for the quality of this game.

IMO and the opinion of many friends in the industry, this is a 30 dollar game to grab a quick buck and test the markets a bit by Nordic, before they move on to bigger fish they've aquired. It is also strange they made a deal with THQ to use the THQ logo because they feel they will sell better with a more recognizable name on the product.

Does that better answer your question?
10/26/2014 2:43pm
It is just so frustrating that the game designers will not go back to the physics of Reflex, which in my opinion came as close to reality as we have seen.
When moving the sticks the rider/bike would do basically what you would think, thinking about how a real rider would.
The bike and the rider felt free, and with Alive and Supercross the rider and bike feel so restricted and stiff, and does not move like you want it to.

The clutch is as the first comment said, like NOS, and boosts you to almost double power, and the "seat-bounce" is like being pulled with a bungee.

If they would just update Reflex with riders, tracks and gear, and make it a little harder to crash when hitting someone, that game is on point.

PLEASE NORDIC, make MX. vs. ATV Relfex 2.

Ok making progress lol. THQs name is nowhere on the product. Nowhere. That damn IGN article is almost a year old btw. Some changes have been made. Look ,Im not a huge fan of the direction of this game, but if you have complaints fact check first.

2nd Did you actually compare a mx game to a Bungie 1st person shooter? You think they are working with the same size dev teams or budgets? You think even 10% of Bungies budget? Would you compare Team Kawaski ride to a Ricks Kawaski from bumfuck Mississippi? They have the same opportunities, right?

Yes its a 30 dollar market test. No doubt about it. However, there enough videos currently on youtube , if you buy without an idea of what you,re getting its your own fault.

I have enough complaints about this franchise as it is. Lets eliminate the ridiculous ones that just arent true, so we can move on to the real ones.

Support this game, it has been tweaked drastically from alive and they are doing this as a market test like the guy I'm quoting here. They will listen to us, just don't need a bunch a negative people killing the genre
