Mine was in 1990 in the 125C class at Lake Geneva Raceway in WI. I holeshot and won both motos, was pretty pumped. I was pretty scrawny, probably like 135 lbs, I had my shirt off after my moto loading my bike up, a person parked next to me his girl friend was giving him crap because he needed help loading his bike up and said look at him, he can get his loaded by himself. I was like yeah, and I just smoked your boyfriend! Best part of the weekend was my brother took me to Dairy Queen on the way home from the track to treat me for my win. Worst part was the next day I had a major side ache, ends up I had to go to the emergency room to have my apendix taken out. Was so pissed, something good finally happens to me in moto and then I have to take 6 weeks off to have surgery!

Can't even remember. Sooo long ago and probably too young. Went 1-1 this year in +25 expert after starting up again last year. Winning feels good! Rode maybe 5 times in the 6 or 7 years prior to that. On to +30 expert next year so no more having to race Open A to get in two classes. I don't feel like hanging out with the kids anymore to do good so that should work out nicely for me. I break bones without even crashing nowadays.

mine was after ten years of racing I went to a Midwest VMX race at Mt. Carroll in Illinois in 2012. I didn't get a moto but went 2-2. It EVO B and I was my 84 YZ 490. The two other guys were on YZ 490's as well. The first moto Rory O'neil won and the second moto Dan Golowacki won. But the crazy part was the first moto Dan DNF'd when got stuck in a drainage pond and the second moto Rory DNF'd when his stator came apart on the line. He was sitting there kicking and kicking with nothing happening. I had been worrying all about my bike because my kick starter fell lol and knew if it stalled I was toast and it was about 99 degrees that day. Well towards the end I of the moto I realized what was going on and yelled holy f*** and got so nervous it was crazy. it was the happiest I may have ever felt. I did one more race and I think im done at least for the foreseeable future and it was the last time I started my 490.

First real win was Albany MX Oregon State championship in 2009. I had just bought my brand new '09 YZ250. Was trying to jump the big sandlake triple during practice (back when it was BIG) but kept coming up short. I told myself that if I holeshotted the second moto I'd grab 4th and huckit. I think I tied a kid to the first corner but passed him real quick over the first jump, so I called that a holee. Kept my promise to myself, clicked 4th and held on! It was one of the few times I impressed myself for having some balls lol
I led the whole race but my dad had to keep reminding me to breathe haha . 250 beginner tho.. Unsure

Didn't win until a vet and that was at Territorial in Eugene. My friend talked me into racing the open c class on my 500. Went well and won both motos so moved up to Vet B and got smoked, for a while.
Just raced there last weekend!

Woodland MX 1983 in the 125 beginner class. My very first start off the gate I got a ripper holeshot and slid out in the first turn. Sliding across the dirt another rider T-boned me right in the face and broke my nose! I was pissed and couldn't wait for the 2nd moto. 2nd moto I got off the line good ( around 3 - 4th? ) I worked my way into 1st place and won my second moto I ever raced.( still have that trophy some where! ) I had a couple buddies that were really fast back in the day that i rode with and they taught me good! Only got to race a couple more times that season but didn't do as well as my very first race. But I remember it like it was yesterday.

I am still waiting for my first race win!

I have a club championship to my name, that was pretty cool, consistency and rocking up to every round paid off Smile
Have a mate that did practice and 2 races at a club dirt track day back in the early 80's in Sydney, finished 2nd overall that year for the club championship.
I was much faster than him that day but got a flat in practice and as I wasn't really into dirt track didn't bother to fix it and decided to just wave a flag to help out.
Gotta be in it to win it hahaha.

1984 Central Village Ct NESC 125 Novice class on a 1983 CR125. Got the holeshot and led all but one time when the kid who finished 2nd passed me over a jump but missed the next turn. Was so pumped crossing that line that I waved my hand in the air - a violation of rules at the time, but nobody cared! Felt like I was riding slow and just being chased. Second moto was also a holeshot but tensed up and got second.

That happened to me twice at CCC 125 novice class where I went 1-2. Great times though for sure.

1973. My very first race, ever! 125 Novice class at a track in West Columbia, TX. I got off the gate in 3rd...and was the winner only because the guys in 1st & 2nd crashed out in the next to last lap! Haha!

I was so excited & shaking so bad at the finish, and it was the best feeling ever! I I won (and lost) my fair share of races in the next 25 years or so...but I'll never duplicate the feeling of that first time.

2006, I was racing the beginner class in the Alberta provincial series, I had been close to the top 5 but just wasn't able to crack into it. Went to a regional race put on by another club in Grande Prairie AB, first moto I went down off the start got up dead last and rode my butt off to come in 4th, second moto I told myself to just make it through the first corner on 2 wheels and your the man, got a great start, made my way into first on the first lap and led for the rest of the race, best feeling ever. My first and only win as it was my last race as a beginner, moved up to Junior the next year and have been mid to rear of the pack ever sense lol

1977 - Lake Conroe MX Park, Conroe TX.
1976 YZ80

I was racing my XR75 and had the YZ80 to play on. Knowing it was way faster my dad wouldn't let me race it until I "rode the XR like I stole it". Well finally the XR had a problem and I got to race the YZ. Back then there was always close to a full gate and instead of being mid pack in the first turn I was top 3. Went on to win the 1st moto and 2nd in moto 2 for 1st overall. I never raced the XR again. Matter of fact I still have what's left of the XR and will start the restore this year. it's a Red-Line frame/swing-arm in rough shape due to keeping it in the barn for 35 years. Will build a mini racer for memories. can't wait!!

Ok, My first win is in 2015 in the 40+ beginner class! lol!

Seriously, I haven't won yet but it was seriously cool taking 2nd in the 40+ beginner class at Pala Raceway the week before the national in 2011.

I rode my ass off on my '05 YZ125.

In the first moto I got second or third off the line. One of the other riders tried to pass on the outside in turn 2 and I didn't give in. Crunch! Evidently his handlebars broke off. That's what I was told. The line was mine. He should've backed off.

Another good start in moto 2, 3rd I believe.

At one point I was in the lead! It was so cool! Then I got passed and did everything I could to get him back. At the finish, he was in sight. Just could not get it done.
After a couple guys crashed I knew that if I won the moto I'd win the overall for the day and the championship!
I just could not reel him in. I lost the championship by like 2 points.

That's the coolest trophy though because I worked hard for it, and it was on the national track.

I'm getting in shape for racing in the spring doing weights and mountain biking. I'm training very seriously. The plan is to start hitting the tracks in January and be as ready as I'm going to get for racing in the spring. I'm hoping to get my first win then Smile

Either way, my priorities are to have fun, come through mostly in one piece, and then to win. Well, you know, sort of in that order.

Dude I know the feeling, I have a 7th place trophy that sorta means a lot to me because the field was pretty big and I worked hard and passed a handful of guys after a shitty start.

1977 Bee Line Motocross Phx, AZ. 80cc Novice, when I got there I didn't know what class to race, my buddy that had been racing for awhile said I was to fast for Beginner and that I should race Novice, so I did, there was at least 20 racers in my race, Shocked and I don't remember exactly were I finished, but I think I was around mid pack. Sad
That next week another buddy said that I really should have raced beginner my first couple of races and said I should move back down for my second race, so I did and went 1-1 Woohoo and did the same for the next two weeks Whistling and then they moved me back up to Novice. Smile

Not my first win, but it's one that stands out the most. Think it was 2001, and I was racing schoolboy at highlands mx. The whole family was there including my girlfriend, and my grandma who thought dirt bikes were too dangerous. Pulled a good start first moto, battled with a kid for awhile before he went down in a turn and let me have the win. Got the holeshot 2nd moto and battled with the same kid the entire race. Bet we passed each other 10-15 times or more. I won by maybe half a bike length. By far the best battle I've ever had. I was so pumped and still remember my dad high fiving like 50 times when I got back to the truck. I'll never forget that. Here's a pic of the holeshot from moto 2.
