This makes the most sense to me. It would be bad ass to see him riding a 500, but odds are he shows up on a 450.

If he stays healthy (that's the *if*) and focuses on this, he could very well, and I mean very well win this.


Hell he was winning the Baja 1000 on a DRZ400 before it swallowed a bunch of fesh fesh. People said he had no chance. People said he had no chance at Erzberg too....which he was leading before he got stuck for along time.


If he can lead these events for hrs....then doing 1 minute runs in a straight line is very attainable.Wink

Sweet false equivalency bro...

My only point is that though he's extremely talented, he hasn't competed at the professional level in years. That alone puts him at a huge disadvantage.

I don't see how the factories could have much input on an event that's isn't sanctioned by the AMA. I doubt Redbull will bend to pressure from Honda, Yamaha, etc.

I'd like to see him use that bike in the MEC - it's still a "run what you brung" event, to my knowledge.

I'm not, for a moment, saying he'd win,

It would just be great to see that concept - "open / run what you brung", be taken up by someone. It isn't going to happen with the contracted riders - they ride what they are paid to ride - fair enough.

But Pastrana, I doubt would have any restrictions from sponsors. Red Bull, would certainly be happy with the extra attention he'd get, at a competitors event.............

Of course, he has his real career to follow - his shows etc.

I believe that if TP would have trained worked and fully dedicated himself like an RC or RV during his big bike moto days that RC-Reed -JS7 would not have had nearly the win numbers that they currently have.
I think his head was simply in to many other places at once.
Still a diehard TP fan anytime he throws a leg over a bike!

It is a Red Bull event. Not a SX or National. Factories have zero say in how Red Bull runs their event.

In the 199 lives documentary they show how hard he trained/over trained, and when he was in the best shape he would always do something stupid like try to jump a step up over a fence and mess himself up.

If things would have went slightly different I definitely believe that he would have won some big bike races. He just got to a point where his body would break down when he trained really hard.

Tp will do fine , he will get more tv than all the other guys combined, and he wont stop smiling even if they are loading him into the van with the lights on the roof, that guy is the best and now i have a reason to watch

Sweet video, Pastrana on a 500 is a scary thing though, eventually he will find the combination of its and his limits if he rides it very long, it's just the way he is.

Cool deal to see them do a 500 Suzuki, inquired about them making those several times in the past, something else to put on my wish list.
