seriously.... that report is pretty bang-on. I've actually spoken with a lot of the American kids since the racing (as I'm actually here, covering this thing) and I don't think a single one of them is happy with their overall finish, except perhaps Jeremy Ryan. Kip Bigelow (USA team boss) even said in his post-race speech that EVERY rider (except those that won the overalls) know they could have done better, it was that kind of event.
The winning score of 21pts is way higher than usual (i'm sure you knew this) and that reflects how hard it was to stay consistent and keep it on two wheels. Jett Reynolds crashed one lap from the end while leading and crashed again chasing a position which would have put him on the podium. Again, something I'm sure you knew. Carter Biese crashed on lap 1 when running 4th and remounted at the back of the field, coming back to 11th. I think every American rider crashed more than once during the racing.
You trying to instigate the masses, buying the pitch forks is much worse than anything written in this PR.... which definitely have never been written by Geoff (possibly the funniest thing i've read in a while)
It is the coolest event on the calendar and certainly a completely new challenge for these kids and Team USA's participation is much appreciated by the organisers, and every person who lined up for the autograph session USA put on.
Aussie Geoff barely goes to the GP's anymore let alone to smaller races. YS's race reports I think are now done by Nikki Scott. Seems like a cool cat from what people say. She races and I gather she's pretty nippy too. From New Zealand which might explain her slightly direct use of language, but at the same time the Kiwis are usually so laid back they're practically horizontal. Probably worth cutting her a little slack.

"Keeping their / your bikes on two wheels" is an oft use OZ / Kiwi line, and after it, it's quite respectful to the riders. Now, if you were to listen to the Kiwi girl talk those lines, well, I'm sure you Yanks wouldn't understand a bloody thing she said - Kiwis speak funny - well, they are damned near unintelligable. Freaks, the lot of 'em.........
