Laughing Nice one.

As much as I want Reed to get back up there, it seems like he just isn't on the pace. Although I haven't seen the race yet, I think this might be the signal that this will be his last year. Got as good a start as he could hope for, and ended up fourth.

Millsaps only pulled 3 seconds on him in 16 laps. It's not like he was way off the pace of Dungey and Millsaps

I know, he wasn't that far behind, but far enough. My comment wasn't really to say that he's no longer competitive, but I wonder if he's truly got enough left to contend for the championship. I can't recall any season where it's this far into the season and he hasn't even gotten on the podium, let alone challenge for the win.

He's said himself on a number of occasions that he doesn't want to run around and not be in contention for race wins and titles.

I could be writing him off early though, it's still a long way to go.

Yeah that's why he caught up to Millsaps last week.

To me Chad was not getting the drive like the other guys, a small amount makes a difference on such a hard slick track.

Gap from millsaps to villopoto stayed consistent after he got into second. Villopoto is too fast to give him 4 (?) Laps alone at the start.

Did you forget how Reed was chasing down Millsaps last week? He'll get things figured out, though the SX title seems a bit out of reach right now. At the beginning of the year he was getting smoked by those guys, now he's pretty much hanging with them.

I think you are right but what happens if Millsaps has a bad race, DNF for example...could happen.....it would change things around....most notably, what would it do to Millsaps, in my opinoion, fragile confidence? RV would obviously gain the most I think based on his capability and standing but who knows what could happen to him as well....? Dungey..Reed...

No I didn't forget, but the fact is that there will be a day when Chad and/or everyone else will realise that he is no longer a genuine contender. It happens to everyone. He's never had a season start this badly, so I was just musing about whether this was that time.

so your telling me that if you in a race for money and you are in second, you are just going to pull over and let a guy by you because he seems to be a little faster then you are. get the fuck out of here.

Reed just doesn't have the speed he used to have. Well, that's normal. He's been a pro for 13 years - that's a hell of a long time.

Yeah if he's been complaining about lack of front end feel did any of you think he was gonna do well on a track as hard and as slick as that?!?!

I'm a massive reed fan, but haven't seen the speed from him yet this year!
I'm putting my money on him when he gets away from the hard pack tracks.. this weekend was terrible

Agreed.

I really want Reed to win just one SX main or outdoor overall this year. If he does I think he will set a new record for most consecutive years winning at least one AMA national title race every year - it will be twelve seasons in a row from 2002 to 2013. Actually if you consider that he also won a GP in 2001 it's even more impressive.

It's been said that an athlete is the last one to know when he has lost his edge, but if Reed is going to do something it needs to be now, I still think he has some stella performances left.

He looked to be very cautious and after washing the front last week and the slippery conditions this week you could see he wasn't pushing it into the corners - I really hope he starts to string some wins together.

Holy shit I'm glad someone else was paying attention...

He was fastest last week, 2nd fastest week before, 2nd fastest week before that...

His speed is fine, but he obviously doesn't feel or look that good doin it...

Wow, chill out dude its just a joke. It was pretty obvious that millsaps was trying really hard to get around reed in the first laps but that wasnt easy on the slippery track. By the time he did vilopoto was a whole straight in front of him and the chances of catching the reigning champ in a situation like that are slim unless he loses the front again.

I never suggested he pulled over its just that when the leader gets out front early most times its hard to real them back in. Thats the reality of all racing. Its something that has happened the last few weeks (without rehashing or blaming anybody just leave it there).

And dont tell me to get the fuck out of here

These tracks suck and Reed needs to be riding his bike from last year. All kidding aside, well the tracks do suck. There is nowhere to pass, ala Dungey tonight, and I dont think Chad is getting along with the new Honda. Honda has these growing pains with every huge change, last one being 07' I believe.

Yea I noticed that right off the bat at A1. Maybe this new chassis doesn't work well with a stiff setup.

So how many screen names does that make for you?

Compare it to Reed's 4th, I bet you still have a higher number.

Now shut the fuck up

If you listen to his post race Pulpcast on pulpmx.com he sounds VERY bummed and down. Called himself a road block in the corners and said Dunge had every right to pass him aggressively.

Reed's done. So is Barcia at such a young age. Bottom line is that Reed was the 5th fastest 450f rider Saturday in a stacked talent pool. RV, Dungey and Stewart were a notch above the other riders on 2-16-13. The point's leader was consistent once again with his starts and running 20 smooth laps. Reed's not done yet.....last week proved that.
