I'm showing my age but the 78 Montessa VB360 and 81 Maico 490 top my list.

My Dad's 1987 CR500. Thing is clean, but by that same token, we are also in the process of restoring it.

I always thought the 79 RM250 was a masterpiece.

Funnest/scariest bike I've ever rode...

Of course I was 16 and weighed 140 at the time.....good memories

Makes no difference, this one still wins.

The Mid-80's Hondas own this.

Then there's Hondas "Works-bikes" from '83-'85

I did it as a list of my favorites from any era, but any bike is certainly defined by the bikes that it was up against at the time.

For looks alone, I always thought this was a bad ass bike. 1986 Cagiva 125

I remember thinking the 2001 RM's looked pretty radical when they first came out. I prefer the look of black graphics on the yellow bikes.

1978 Honda 250. Fire red engine-thought they were awesome. The Dungey edition KTM 450 is pretty sweet, as is the entire 2012 KTM 2 stroke SX line-all pretty bad ass.

I'm partial to the 1985 since I had this year model. Bought it with a student loan while in college and paid for that sucker for 10 years.

As a kid first seeing the DT250 before the Japanese made pure MX bikes I fell for the looks of that bike and still like it.

Agreed. That bike would probably top my list, too.

I have a dozen or so honorable mentions, but to me these three stand out as the best looking bikes:

1985 CR's
1990 KX125/250
2009 CRF450

Mitch Payton's Pro Circuit bikes always look good. That started back in their Husqvarna years.

I dig your style, dude.

I'm a huge fan of the 06-12 YZ's.

I think they look ugly as hell when people try to convert them into modern four strokes.

Do you kind of wish there was an aluminum frame version of the RM250? RC was speaking pretty highly of steel frames during a race this year talking about Dungey's bike (I think Phoenix). I kind of got the impression he preferred a little flex in his ride over the rigid alloy feel.
