I like the part when I look behind me and see my roost when I twist the throttle

I like the feeling of hitting a bottomless pile of dirt in a corner and seeing a huge cloud of dirt flying make a shadow just next to me as i actually get through the turn . I also like when im done riding and nothing is broken on me or the bike.

Jumping definitely started the addiction... I don't do huge mega leaps, but the ones I do I like to think I am consistent with and do pretty good with timing.
Starts are pretty awesome too!

For me it's always the start,I get pumped like a drug addict that just got a hit lol. I've always been good at getting the holeshot so that is prolly why. Most people dread them but I like the butterfly's, anticipation and the adrenalin. I've always thought their is 2 races in each moto 1 race is to the first turn and 2 race is the rest of the laps. .......

Just a repost of Me pulling the holey not to long ago. I edited out all the pre start ritual stuff lol, My way of getting ready for battle. https://youtu.be/VAzLSlgjTrE

Flow, When your Flowing and you feel like not even the goat can touch you.. Also when your practicing and some guy refuses to let you pass them and a nice 5-lap battle ensues.. god i love that soo much, because there is no racing pressure and it's basically just a who want's it more.

New tires on a freshly groomed track hooking up and feeling the magic of motocross.

That and having a good bar to bar back and forth battle with someone then becoming friends.

Mammoth MX.

The Santa Rita Whoops in Baja Sur.

Riding, anywhere, with my friends.

Watching a friend qualify/race... All the while knowing it left it ALL on the track.

I really dig being presented with the first place trophy (happens all too often) and the kiss and hug from the trophy girl.

Beyond that, it's just all too routine, and comes way easy and naturally.Whistling Tongue Wink Laughing

EVERYTHING, except injuries and the cost. I really do love it all. Greatest sport on the planet, IMO.

Riding some deep sand! Nothing compares!

Cruising around on the last lap with a decent lead. Doesn't happen often but what a great feeling when it does! Also, goofing off in the pit with buds.

When your nervous as crap in your first race in 250b, and you get a good jump, you look out the corner of your eye and you see 30 other front fenders, but yours just about a foot infront of everyone elses.. Then you hold on the gas just a second longer then everybody else and come around the first turn a bike length ahead of everybody.. Too bad I couldnt keep the lead! :/

This is a tough one to answer. I love everything about moto. I love driving to the track n the morning , getting to the track and unloading, watching who is showing up and knowing who I am going to have a tough time with that day, hanging out and watching the other classes in between my motos and on and on. But I guess the most satisfying thing had to have been the time for a while that I was really fit and riding very well and managed to pull a holeshot and then check out. I didn't do it very many times but the couple of times I did it was the best feeling I ever had racing. The other best times were riding the trails in Northern Michigan with my brother and buddies. Go up for the weekend and ride like dogs all day and party like fools all night... good times!!!!

I'd say its a tie for me. It's between dragging the bars in a turn or throwing down a nice scrub.

When you don't realize how fast you're clipping along until a gigantic swap knocks you back to reality, you somehow manage to save it, and, afterward you don't know whether to thank god for saving your miserable life or to go out and do it again.

Nailing the perfect rut. As soon as the rear wheel drops in you twist the throttle and rail that sucker all the way through. Also telling myself."yeah you nailed that" whenever I get something just right

I spent the first 20 years of my riding career trying to supress the butterflies and nervousness, trying to be confindent and to never show fear on the starting line.

But as I got older I realized that racing is the only thing in this world that can give me butterflies like that - and when I am on the starting line I am truly living.

And then nailing the freaking holeshot against some novice posers.

One part that always gave me goose bumps was walking up to sign up and seeing the sign up line at least an hour long , and then strolling around the back and getting the sign up ladies attention and she hooks you up instantly processing your entry form and cash without checking your world sports membership AND YOUR AMA membership which both expired a month ago. Almost as sweet as nailing the holeshot.

For me the greatest thing is when you're in a battle with someone on the track and they go in for an aggressive block pass, but you see it coming, stop, square up the turn and pass them back. I smile under my helmet every time I do that.

Was going to say banging it inside a mate but i think you said it better :D

and beating guys who dont like or respect you.....try racing in a very xenophobic country (not your own country)

Absolutely nothing comes close to how good it feels when you're feeling the flow. Hit a rhythm section right, NAIL the rut, and fly into the next rhythm section. It's a beautiful thing.
^^^ this. I'm not fast, i don't get holeshots, but I experience some awesome flow from time to time. No first places, but I love beating my last lap time. The feeling after a big nasty crash and getting up and walking away. Getting better, being faster. Learning new things, trying the new things, and nailing them.

Best thread in a while IMO; it's great to read everyone's posts on their love for our sport. Thanks

When conditions are just right, the track has been really well prepped and is super tacky.

I'll second that and also feeling your fork guards catching and your pegs dragging as you tip it in.

ummm... this ^^^^^^^

tomahawk "house" turn, mastersMX series 2010. Set up the pass for 2 laps running the outside in that turn. last lap, went high. He chased me outside, I grabbed the rear brake, slid it around and feathered the clutch to take 2nd place.
