This thread brings back a lot of memories...haha

I do like "Fork Savers" though. I use them all the time in my trailer, never had one come loose yet.

MXA said that compressing the forks wouldn't damage it.

OT: Back in the 70s and 80s, we used a 11" piece of 2 X 4 with a bit of shag carpet stapled on each end, so it didn't scoot out. Classy!

The suspension shops I trust, say there is NO WAY you can sack fork springs no matter how hard, or how long, you cinch them down.
Prove it otherwise.Wink

Great thread!! By a huge margin the plastic levers (Preston Petty??) from the late 70's early 80s. Keep in mind, most bikes still had drum front brakes which required a bit of muscle to haul you down from speed. You'd be squeezing harder and harder and the lever flexed so bad that it would just keep slowing down at the same rate which in many situations was bad....very bad! Fucking junk!

Last month...Stockton Spring Puller. It broke the first time I used it. My grandfather was correct when he said "never buy cheap tools".

I use these with success. Good for longer trips than the local track.

What a fun thread! When I bought an Uncle Moon H2O visor, my big brother about disowned me... I also had those Pro Levers with the notch in them, a Roko Quick Strap, an Answer Roost Boost and one of those horrible Team Tamm jerseys with all the crazy stripes. I remember the first (three wheeler) race I wore it at. After the moto was over, my dad came running up to me and asked, "What happened? i never saw you out there!" I told him that I had just won, and he said, "That was you? In that CLOWN OUTFIT?" haha

Roost Boost hands down a scam.

how about those smith goggles with the little fan in them? think they were called "turbos". all that did was blow the dust directly into your eyes.

Roost Boost, was the first thing I thought of.

Also a DG pipe for my '86 YZ125. As a side note, I busted my ass stripping all the paint off of it so it would look "factory" and then it cracked and my dad sent it back. When we finally received it again, they had repainted the damn thing! I didn't bother stripping it the 2nd time.

Ryno skins? you mean there were two companies with these God awful things? Slater skins starting popping up on the bigger FMX forums last year. I always heard Ryno skins though now that you mention it... Weird

This is a great thread. So many dumb memories. MX'ers are always looking for some magical device that's going to knock three seconds off of our laptimes with zero effort on our parts!
I also had one of those neoprene EVS shoulder braces to try and keep my arm from coming out of socket. I was convinced it helped and wore it for years, even though my arm came out a number of times while wearing it.
Can I get that Answer Boost Bottle for my RMZ 450!?!?

weird home some people have products that do not work, yet they work for others,

i had a evs brace and my shoulder never came out in it, (it came out 18 times) before the second op fixed it for good, do not use the brace so much anymore,

I also use grip donuts to good effect as well,

I finally started doing therapy and that has seemed to take care of the should. It has come out a few times in the past few years for other goofy things but not during moto (knock on wood!)

I'm with you on the grip donuts, I keep one on my left side and I think it works great! Yamathumb...

best thread thats come up on vital in a long time!!!

it seems that most mx riders are very gullable when it comes to gimmicks that will (supposedly) make them faster

here's another one for ya- DIRTBIKE GYM

and even more far fetched (although not specifically moto- other sports were sucked in) BALANCE BANDS!! (the silly wrist bands with the magic hologram)

Enduro Engineering "Clutch slave cylinder guard" for my KTM 200 EXC - the chain snapped, bolts are engineered too short so they don't bottom out fully into case. This acts as a fulcrum applying leverage to the case instead of the bolt/guard.

BROKE MY CASE - would have made more sense not to have it at all and let it wreck the slave cylinder, it's cheaper. Oh yeah it wrecked THAT TOO.

Thanks for a shit product.
