I have a good friend in Carlsbad who has a 2010 YZ450 that he likes--he's always been a Yami guy. Anyway one of his three sons is getting faster and has a full boat ride on the little KTM's Sleeter really likes the kid and he shows huge potential.
Anyway CT has ridden all the KTM's lately and couldn't believe how nice the new 450 is and the way it handled. For him to say he liked it better than his Yami--shocked me!
KTM makes really great bikes and they last forever. I still have the original top end on my 02 520 EXC!

There is no one on the face of the planet that can use the "its too dangerous" excuse on me anymore after this experience here!!!

My 2011 estart and my buddies 2010 250 EXC. Easily the best 2 smokers available today.
Back in 03 I got myself the 525 SX - and yes it was covered in weird angled funny shapes, held together in places with what appeared to be wood screws lol. But even then I could see that underneath it all there was essentially a great motorcycle. I never had a serious problem with it the entire time I owned it and performance wise it was surprisingly good. These days I own an 08 SXF 450 and for all intents and purposes it feels just like a jap bike, great power, great handling (now that I have it set up), solid build quality. Not to mention electric start - I'm amazed the japs haven't followed suit with this yet, it's just so convenient.
I can't imagine how good the newest models are but it doesn't surprise me to see KTM come around. If money were no object I think I might buy a new 250 SX 2 stroke and upgrade it with the 300cc kit. That'd be pretty sweet.
for your service to this great nation and helping us keep the freedom that allows us all to ride. Thank you, Quick.
I would have another, or hopefully a 300 EXC 2-stroke in an instant.
From memory they were supposedly easier to ride as they had a broader and smoother power delivery

I appreciate it!

I know it will be as fun as I remember, I can still close my eyes and take laps around Canyon Raceway and Speedworld in Phoenix! Since I still have my corner speed in my dreams I am sure I wil be just as fast the first time i go for a ride... Ha hah!!!
I bought a 2011 KTM 450 SX and took it to my local track. I run it in and then in bog standard trim put in a lap 1 sec quicker than I ever done on my RMZ and was consistently faster on the KTM lap after lap. Awesome bike super smooth power and handles like a dream, I can't wait to get it set up for me.
raced every weekend since june last year in b class, 2 beach races, 3 weeks in belgium and the netherlands.
and it has been better than my crf250 i had the previous season, only thing i will say is that it feels like it doesnt want to change gear, and never has,
and the handle bar mounts split clean in half.
