Brother man...that meme perfectly illustrates one of, if not the main reason, that Red and Blue can't get on the same page.

Just because us Lefties don't agree with how Trump went about this doesn't mean we are "supporting" a dictator.

If we and our allies agree that an evil mother fucker has to go...then jump on it.  But that ain't what the world is seeing/hearing.

The 'allies' will debate and 'talk' for decades and nothing ever gets done anymore.  Nothing.  Just talk, posturing, committee meetings, finger pointing and talking points, squabbling on talk shows,  while the USA and the American taxpayer is getting fleeced and milked dry.  Hell most of the GOP are proving themselves to be nothing more than RINOs and are all talk now.   Zero charges, zero indictments, zero arrests, and all the crooks are walking free. (probably why Bongino said fuck it and bailed)  The honest, clock punching, born & raised American is getting FUCKED every direction you look and all the politicians, on both sides,  point fingers and talk.  Screw that.   Im grateful we have someone who gets shit done.

Im not gonna debate anyone on this, so think how you wish.

The hardest part is that we all simply do not know the reasoning or the end game behind these moves. All we do is guess. It can be about oil, regime change, the almighty dollar so on so forth.

I have zero clue as to the why, but I do know it was carried out with extreme success and a job that has never been done before. Perhaps a flex towards Russia and China. Who knows

Oy Vey! Who would have thought?

Doesn’t look that way. Trump publicly stated she lacks credibility inside Venezuela. He seems to be aligning with Maduro’s legacy administration. Unsure how the US will “run” the new government but it will certainly revolve around access to oil reserves.

I don't think you'll find many people saying Maduro should still be in power, but you will see lots of disagreement from the left and the right and the globe on how it was done.  And it wasn't done for some ethical and humanitarian reason, it was done because of oil.

So what if it was done because of oil? Oil companies invested billions in that country, and it was all taken away from them through socialism. Venezuela was a very wealthy country at one time, and it has gone to 20% of its population fleeing the country and starvation in its streets. That we can try to rectify both situations, why is that bad? I at one time felt like you, that it was bad that our pressuring Venezuela was a veiled effort to gain their oil. Several weeks ago I listened to a podcast interviewing a Venezuelan economist, he changed my mind, this needed to be done.

Yea exactly companies. The US has no right to that resource and any company that took the risk to invest in an unstable country took that risk knowingly.  It’s not on us (the US Govt) to go in and steal it for them.

It’s amazing to me how unaware anyone close to the president becomes when he does something they probably don’t agree with but they can’t break rank.

Does Mike Johnson even know we’ve done any of this yet? He’s seemingly unaware of everything.
Marco Rubio doesn’t know anything about the pardoning of Hernandez ?

Maybe, but keep them from doing what exactly and what would be the limitation to our efforts? Because I'm not down with using crime/murder/etc as a political tool to prevent legal activities, or else we're just Russia at that point and would be deserving of any type of response.

The admin talked about oil in the very first press conference about the arrest. Normally admins don't talk about their ulterior motives at all. This is ultimately about money in one form or another, but at the same time, they're getting a criminal out of office, so I'm more in a "wait and see" camp. It's kind of like when gang members shoot each other, sometimes you let criminal vs criminal stuff play out a bit before intervening.

If Venezuela is in our possession why should we give it back? It’s not like the people there did anything to gain their “freedom”. It was after all my tax money that supplies and supports the military which freed them. So I think we should be entitled to the spoils of victory. That country should be our newest territory.

Maduro who?? Dude looks like a Cho mo. Let’s save a few bucks and just behead him. American jails are for American citizens.

The Venezuelan people do have a right to it…they deserve to have a higher standard of living (which comes from oil and gas). They deserve high paying jobs in the oil and gas industry..just like millions of people in the USA, Canada and many other oil rich countries in the world..

Folks act like increasing production of oil in Venezuela and them being able to sell it on the open market is a bad thing..

When I see folks mention oil like it’s a bad thing I laugh…you all love using oil and how it helps drive our economy! Please explain to me why they don’t deserve the same? Why don’t they deserve higher paying oil and gas jobs?

Should also note- we don’t need Venezuelan oil, we have a shit ton here too..

The foreign investment in oil started long before Venezuela was unstable. That this action benefits for profit companies and the people of Venezuela there is no doubt as well as no harm so far. Except of course to Maduro. Venezuelan expats living in this nation have been clamoring for our government to intervene for awhile now. And there is no stealing going on, oil production during Maduro is a fraction of what it was before him, the USA is merely taking back what was once ours and the people of Venezuela.

Maybe they do deserve it, but I’m the one footing the bill here, so Americans deserve it more. That’s our oil now, they can sweep the floors of the refineries. Any high paying jobs should be ours

I don’t completely disagree, however keep in mind investing in/expanding oil production in Venezuela will for sure benefit the US- US companies, US workers, US products, etc, etc…Will all be needed ..It’s a win - win for Venezuela and the USA and our allies..

Venezuela crude is heavy, sour crude. US East coast refineries are set up to process this type, which produces more diesel, jet fuel and asphalt base than lighter grades. It also ends up yielding more bunker fuel, as well as being less expensive than light, sweet crude

Pretty sure he was mocking the potential path to becoming morally bankrupt totalitarian criminals exactly like the guy we just removed. The fact that we're talking about oil is a straight 1:1 with corruption.

Did you also disagree when Clinton continued to bomb Kosovo without congressional approval? What about when Obama bombed Libya, Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Somalia, Pakistan, and Afganistan also without congressional approval? Let's not forget the bumbling Biden and his bombing of Syria, Iraq, and Yemen. Further, getting congressional approval would have meant informing Democrats about military options and the Democrats leaking those details to the public, in turn threatening US forces. Even you left wing ideologues must recognise that it would have been leaked.

Of course the simplist answer isn't always right. This was more about not allowing China or Russia to get a larger foothold in Venezuela. China through it's belt and road initative and Russia through tech transfer as was just done launching a satellite for the Maduro regime.

This action taken by president Trump was long overdue for the suffering Venezuelan people and was completey legal. If you are going to say that take a moment to read this excerpt:

The War Powers Resolution of 1973 (referred to as the War Powers Act) limits what the president can do with military forces if lacking Congressional approval. U.S. forces sent into combat are limited to 90 days without a Congressional resolution, 30 of which must be spent on their withdrawal.

The quote above should help those of you who continue to state that the bombing was illegal to now know the truth. Now if you are going to state that it isn't legal according to the UN, you obviously haven't noticed by now President Trump and his administration don't care what the UN considers legal as the UN is obviously anti American.

Really? There are interviews with a large number of Venezuelan people on the news, Facebook, and Twitter that support this. Have you even looked? Have you watched videos of the crowds celebrating his removal? Where do you get your information? If I were you I would probaly get a little more balanced  sources so you may know the truth about what's really going on. The Venezuelan people overwhelmingly support this action to get Maduro out. He was not leagally elected.
Before you continue criticizing President Trump and The United States for this action, please tell us all in what way your country New Zealand, has tried to help the Venezuelan people.  Oh wait nevermind, New Zealand is too busy arresting people for exercising their free speech over the internet.

Sorry, Scott_NZ. I responed to the wrong person.

No problem ,  I didn’t understand why the rant was at me, I just thought someone might have shat in your cornflakes this morning

And we haven’t quite got to the Briton level  of censorship online yet , if the left wing had won another term it might have happened ,

Venezuela wanted to trade in other currencies and not be under the yoke of the American dollar and central banking.

BRIC’s countries trading in their own currencies rather than the US dollar threatens US domination. Brazil should be next.

We must force these countries, especially in the western hemisphere, to trade in the US dollar. If we allow countries to gain financial independence, we lose all leverage. Not good for America or Americans.

Who knows
