A random thought this morning. To get a 450 Outdoor win this Summer, you'll need to beat:

- One of the greatest to ever do it and 4-time Champ in Eli Tomac who's arguably in peak career form;

- A generational phenom in Jett Lawrence who went undefeated in his first season. Defending Champ, MXON 2-time Champ (defending);

- 4-time World Champion Jorge Prado, back on his preferred motorcycle;

- 2-time MXON Champ (defending), 2025 MXON overall winner in Hunter Lawrence, career best form;

- Hottest 250 prospect since Jett in Haiden Deegan;

- 2024 Champ Chase Sexton

What a year to be a fan.

Sprinkle in the one-off guys like AP, RJ and JCoop, and it's definitely going to be a fun summer.

Hmmm. might have to go to Hangtown again this year. Hope it's not a schorcher. Or a mud bath. Like the last two times I went.🤷

I love deegs, but no. Too many veterans of the class will be better than him most times. I will say I can’t wait to see how he does though. Hope Eli and him have good battles. He’s like Eli but with some of jett sprinkled in, technique wise.

Normally by this stage of the SX series I’m starting to think about the Nationals, but not this year; racing has been brilliant.

I agree. Even without (or maybe because he isnt there) Jett its been amazing. Ken is riding great too and with all those up there beeing such great and respectful racers we get to see almost entire main events of passing and racing instead of just 3 laps and then someone is on the ground.
Its been amazing tbh.

Hell yeah it's going to be amazing. We're almost at the point where I get tired of SX and want the outdoors to start.

I think Deegan will win Pala. He'll come in guns blazing with months of outdoor 450 prep while his competition is either currently hurt or stuck in an SX title fight. I don't have him for the title but it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if he went 1-1 at Round 1. 6-6 would also not surprise me with how stacked the class is, but I think he'll be damn good.

For title I have Jett, Tomac, Hunter, Prado, Deegan in that order.
But who the hell knows
I think Prado will win races but also have multiple races where he struggles

Feels like an incredible time to be a fan this year specifically.  Outdoor talent will be DEEP.  It could easily play out that nobody runs away and they all exchange wins through the summer

Would be tough for me to bet against Jett at Pala, as I believe he's never lost there. And Deegan practicing on the 450 vs his first time lining up against all of those guys, is quite different. I do think Deegs will be in the mix up front all season, but I don't think he's going to win the first race, especially when it's Jett's best track. I am excited for Outdoors, but like mentioned above, I'm still invested in SX at the moment, as it's been really good.

I'm still not sold on Prado yet, last year he had a few good starts and ran up front for a while but faded or went down when the pressure turned up. 30+ 2 is no joke in AMA when there is 5 or 6 guys that can run your speed for the whole race. Eli gets stronger as the race goes on, finds a groove then steam rolls till the end. Jett consistently gets great starts and runs as fast as he has to to maintain his lead, and once he's there he doesn't drop off and can turn it up if he gets pressured. Haiden ain't the best starter, but his fitness is incredible and he "hard charges" till the checkers. For Prado to win he will have to get perfect starts (which he is capable of) and then run like the devil till the end, or in NASCAR terms "I'm just gonna hold it wide open till I see God or the checker flag" 😉

Yeah 4x mxgp champ who just won how many heat races and qualified fastest in sx 2x surely will have a tough time in his more familiar outdoor format…

MXGP's are 30mins +2
I agree, I also don't believe he will spank the class. But he is capable of going a race distance against top talent.

I'm trying to contain my excitement for now, last year we pretty much had the same line-up except for Deegan and we know how that ended.. Sexton with one of the weirdest seasons ever and out most of the races, Tomac not up to his usual level (I believe), Prado.. well yeah. It was basically a one man show while Hunter was usual in 2nd being called a roadblock for some reason.

Just watching how good Tomac and Prado look on the KTM right now already tells me this season will be so much better, but I don't want to get disappointed again. I just hope the moto gods will be with us this year and keep everyone healthy and up to form!

Just need to hope everyone stays relatively healthy to finish Supercross.

As much as I'm rooting for ET3, I just have a feeling it's now the Jett era if he can stay healthy.

Yes he can win, obviously, but from what I saw last year when he had a 3 second lead on the field at a track he liked, close to the half way point, he started to fade or they picked it up, caught him and then he went down trying to stay up in the mix. I don't watch a lot of MXGP, but the races I did watch of him winning, he got the hole-shot, checked out and wasn't really challenged at the end of a race.

Last year? What series did you watch, because Prado never led a lap. He only looked good at Southwick, was behind Jett both times and then crashed in both motos. That was the only time he actually put effort in.

By the way, the 2024 Prado was a different one from the previous years with quite a few coming through the pack rides. Just for comparison, he won the 2023 with mostly first moto wins and only 2x overall wins. He won the 2024 with 11x overall wins..
Let's hope this version shows up.

If the battle for SX is between Eli and Hunter, till the last race I think neither of them will be a factor early in MX. Tbey will be invested in winning SX till the end. Probably not a lot of testing for outdoors and may be exhausted mentally from the effort to win SX.

He led like half of red bud moto last year.

@kxking But it was no secret he hated the bike…so yeah he faded but he told you why…you think he’s not in shape? lol.

This year is shaping up to be an alltimer of a season. Also MXGP is extremely stacked, hell even MotoGP has the potential to be the best its been in years since Ducati and Marc Marquez dont seem to be as dominant this year

If Eli stays healthy, like all the rest have to, he is going to be really tough to beat. Riding as good as I have ever seen him...and he wants more championships. I have a feeling if he wins the SX chmapionship and then wins the outdoors...he is going to sail off into the sunset. He wants to go out winning and champion.

It’s gonna be the Jett show. He definitely won’t go undefeated but he is the best rider on the planet. The class is crazy deep but Jett will win 6 OA still. After meeting Hunter(legit spent 20 mins bs’n with me when he didn’t have to) he is who I pull for  but Jett is Jett.

We already had 'The Perfect Storm' for SX back in 2005 so what can we call this summer? It really does feel like this will be a banner year of MX if everyone comes into round 1 ready to go.
