If the incident is bad enough for a Red Cross just red flag the race and either re-rack them or stagger start depending on the time left in the race
As far as the 250’s go, we now know and so do the riders that if the lights are on but flags are not out, you’re clear to jump! If both lights are on and flag out don’t jump.

I think they mean that if a single light comes on that it should stay on for a complete lap. I could be wrong.
Its normal to have a red cross flag and lights for one jump or a section of a couple jumps , without a full course caution. Only time they have a full course red flag is when the race/practice is stopped and restarted.
But that would be an interesting way of making a race more exciting if everybody is all spread out. It would be a little gimmicky , but NASCAR does similar things. I don't know that I would want to see it happen in SX/MX. Maybe it could be something they do in SMX .
No not a full course caution, just in the section it’s required, as it is now.
However to affect the field equally, the first rider to receive the Red Cross flag should be the first to receive the all clear. That way it offers no advantage to anyone.
At least that’s how I interpreted what blockhead suggested.

If AMA doesn't try to make some sort of amends to this, they don't know how to manage a fair race. Mike Pelletier is a useless prick. AMA really did nothing when Deegan dangerously tried to trip up his competitor, Jo Shimoda, and here they are going to fuck over Jo Shimoda yet again, it seems.
They should either dock every other rider one position for jumping on the red light, or at least dock Pierce Brown one position for jumping on the red light/ or similarly advance Shimoda one position, so that Brown and Shimoda are tie for the win. Highly unusual, but this is the best way to be fair for this major screw up. AMA needs to be creative instead of sticking their head in the sand all the time.

He’s right. I think the Eli one was a little more on the margins but the situation in the 250 main is clear as day. There is even a flagger POINTING AT THE RED LIGHT, like “hey look, you need to not jump”
We had a similar penalty last year where someone jumped on a Red Cross even though there was no riders in danger but they still penalized the guys who jumped. Why is this any different?

Let's not forget that when they hid a tiny red flag in the corner before the finish line and Jett jumped it they penalized him. A fucking joke. Star can jump on red flags and fail sound check but if anyone else does it…
