Serious question here for everyone:

If there are 8-10 Nationals that go ahead this summer/autumn, but attending them requires you to wear a mask AND maintain reasonable distance to other groups, will you attend?

From what I've seen on social media during SX, the photos of people in masks seem to outrage a lot of the so-called fans of the sport. I say "so-called" because I think there are a lot of fucktards on Instagram who wouldn't know which side the rear brake pedal is on. But my point here is, if there were requirements in place, would you support the sport, follow the rules and attend the races?

EDIT: I changed my wording to wear a mask and observe reasonable distancing between other groups because this seems to be the combo that keeps the virus from spreading more rapidly. The science lags so far behind the moment in this pandemic, we'll know what worked and didn't work years after it's all over.
I have to wear a mask for 8 hours all day at work or I can't come in, so yes I am there.

Don't believe all the hype....I keep asking why all the news is about new cases and not about death rates...deaths are at the lowest levels since this began and hospitalizations are down.

Florida numbers as of 6/22
Positive cases - 109,000
Hospitalizations - 13,574
Deaths - 3281 - there were 7 deaths on 6/22

This is out of 22 million people!!

COVID-19 related deaths generally follow infections by 10-15 days.
So around 4th of July is when you'll start to see daily deaths dramatically jump in Flordia, Texas and Arizona

Those who end up very sick and in the ICU generally go downhill around day 10 or later. So you can’t equate the spike data in cases right now and the current ICU and death rate.
Those numbers are from the beginning through 6/22 and are the numbers reported on the states portal. You can use the data to project how many of the new cases could end up hospitalized and project the death rate but nobody wants to report or talk about those numbers because they are as scary or exciting as 5000 new cases in one day!
The average age of new cases is much younger than previously so they are not ending up in the hospital or dying anywhere near the levels from before.
The increase in cases started over two weeks ago but both hospitalizations and deaths are way down. The news won't say that because it just isn't sensational enough.

Wouldn't it be cool to race the 125cc class at one track, and the 250cc class somewhere else, on the SAME DATE?
........ ... . ..Just like the olden days? Permit only 1,000 spectators, park 6ft apart.
.
I wonder if any of these "prima donnas" would show up for Big Bucks "local" races all summer like Privateers if the Nationals were canceled?

I would imagine that Jeremy at Briarcliff in Nashport Ohio would roll out the red carpet for a pro national if he was considered.

Ohio natives are pretty level headed. We went on with our lives a long time ago.

Serious answer. I came back to work on May 4 and I am required to wear one. I work in an old, hot factory with very little airflow. I’ve grown to loathe the mask. I dread putting it on. At times it is very uncomfortable and just downright miserable to have on.
I’ve noticed that on the drive home I am exhausted to the point where I’ve almost fallen asleep. I catch myself stopping for coffee at 3 in the afternoon to stay awake. This was never an issue before.
My family has noticed that I’m much less active when I get home too. No energy to do much of anything.

I have and will wear one in stores that require it though. But, to be outside on a hot summer day for hours and hours in a mask? No, not doing it.

I live in Florida, born here, lived most all my life, mostly South Florida, where my Dad still lives

Miami is getting hammered by this virus
When I say "Miami," I mean South Florida...it's like one big city from Palm Beach to Homestead now

The hospital in Homestead, while not a huge one, has no ICU bed space and they're having to ship people out to other hospitals

Other hospitals are starting to get loaded up.

I live in Central Florida, my news comes from Orlando, and they're having both positive and hospitalizations going up

Duval County, which is where Jacksonville is, is seeing increases. At the same time, they're apparently not excited about big crowds, because many are pretty pissed off the GOP convention was moved there and they're afraid that more out of town people milling about town is a risk they don't want to take.

I plan to be at WW, but I also consider the situation fluid

I'm curious if any studies have been done to determine whether COVID is just a companion disease to another as-yet-undiagnosed brain-eating virus. A lot of people seem to be losing their minds around here lately...

If there is a remote chance that the season won't be able to finish once started, I don t want them to run. SLC got old for me pretty quick. I want a real championship that hits all of the classics: Red Bud, Spring Creek, Budds Creek, Washougal, Southwick, Thunder Valley, Unadilla, etc. ... Not iron man then 8 races at Joe blow's track ' n trail national. Probably an unpopular opinion, but I don't want another stoppage after a handful of races and no one knows what to do.

You're living up to your username...

I'd like a forum where people had a shred of common sense based on what's going on in the world.

SLC got old for you? Would you rather see racing (any racing) on TV? Or are you down to watch the cornhole world championships?

Yeah, I would be willing to go if attendance was limited.

I think if you are outdoors, in crowds small enough that you can maintain some personal space, with everybody wearing masks, your risks are pretty low.

No rest for the weary. Lots of pros out at Glen Helen practicing hard today working on outdoor set up. Webb, Wilson, Tickle, Husky, KTM, Honda, Star, and Moto Concepts all here and more.

Calm down Gibby. I'm saying I don't want to watch a "national" series at one track. And thanks, I hit a mailbox typing this.

Serious question. If there are no nationals or LL this year can MX Sports as the promoter survive to next year? Huge motocross fan here, so I sincerely hope they have buckets of dollars in reserves and this is not a big threat to their business long-term. Don't understand those that prefer SX over MX, but to each his own. Fingers crossed some racing happens

I really wouldn't care if they raced 12 rds at 1 track. Those 2-3 hrs of racing are my escape from my real world problems and stresses. It's not like the results will be the exact same every time. Guys have good days and bad. Different bike setups, maybe 1 line worked this week but not the next. Weather could always play a big factor. We just watched 7 races at SLC and almost every time it had a totally different feel to it. Is it ideal? Of course not, but people would complain even during a normal series about something. You could hand someone a $100 bill and they'll bitch it's wrinkled. I "want" 2 strokes back, ain't gonna happen but I still just love to watch racing.

I don't think there is the room there for a nation between pro pits, privateer pits, spectator parking, and room for spectators.

On the other hand, Don Kenworthy to the courtesy phone please.

Bottom line is if there are no ticket buying fans allowed the they wont have a race because the outdoor promoters make their money from the gate.

No I absolutely wouldn’t go to Unadilla this year and wear a mask. It’s usually pretty damn hot in mid August and I’ll be damned if that’s how I would want to spend the day. So here’s a thought, let people who don’t want to wear a mask do so. People who do, go right ahead. If the people who are keen on mask wearing have a problem with that, stay home. It’s safer there after all.

You aren't too up to date on liability clauses are you? Only way a race with fans will even be remotely possible and underwritten will be a mask requirement. Guess you are sitting these out, chief...

So, much like Supercross, wherever they hold outdoor nationals there will most likely be some regulations put in place by the state and county health departments. Those regulations would likely involve wearing a mask for spectators and race staff.

Given how shitty 2020 has been, I would hope that anyone who really wants to attend a live race would be willing to make a small sacrifice and wear a mask. I'm probably hosed for Washougal even if it does happen, because the border situation is unlikely to be resolved any time soon. But if I could go, I'd be 100% fine to wear a mask and observe distancing.

The same rules apply here as far as hiking trails and being outside in public, and I am 100% fine with that, but let's be honest, leaving the judgment call up to people never works and opens yourself up to liability if an outbreak can be tied to a for profit spectator event.

I really hope it all works out for MxSports seeing as I consider a lot of those guys friends and I really want to see some outdoor racing.
