New JS7 Interview

He's hinted it in the past, I don't think his the ama/fim are best of buddies.

Probably why he "vanished".
More power to Bubba and his fam for doing what is best for them. He doesn't owe us a single thing. No goodbye tour no last race nothing. We were lucky to have him be part of the moto world at all.

James doesn’t give a shit about the moto community. Why should he? It’s easier to remember hate than the love.

This guy, Tim Storey, is a comeback coach...just sayin’

Nice to hear from him - he looks good. I wonder why he gave this guy an interview but won't talk to the MX media?

The interviewer is clearly an African-American, and the interview seems targeted at African-Americans. If James is encouraging young men to come up to a level society might have convinced them they can’t attain...and can use this guy (whoever he is) and this predominantly African-American platform to do it on... more power to him.

I doubt Matthes has much if any influence outside of the Moto world, and James seems to have a bigger picture in mind.
The interviewer is “clearly African America”? Are you stupid?

The interviewer said he knows his wife. Does anyone know who his wife is? Never knew he was married or had a wife.

No, he's not. The interviewer is clearly black.

So funny to see people getting so fired up about someone else + trying to force him to stay in the mx world. Focus on your own life, I promise you that it will get a lot better. I'm glad to see him doing good, enjoying retirement out of the spotlight and just living life.

He missed the step where he announced his retirement..
Everyone wants to go on and on about him not owing us anything but he would of saved a lot of hassle by just stepping away the correct way.
Has there ever been another professional athlete leave their sport with no explanation?
Anyway hopefully this all leads to a bit more information, glad to see he is doing well.

What is the correct way? He is doing things his way as he always has. Ppl are going to love it and ppl are going to hate it.

I agree, but a “goodbye” would have been nice. Instead he disappears and the family puts it out there that he’s working on a comeback and that we haven’t seen the last of James. Then there was writing a letter to the AMA trying to keep #7 for James.

I really liked James and loved watching him ride. It would have been really nice to see him announce his retirement and then disappear to go live his life instead of what we got. That’s all I’m saying.

Do you think he found those kids down by the duck pond, or maybe a stork dropped them off on his door step?

For some reason it won't play like a normal Instagram vid (I'm on a Mac) but if you click on the pic/vid it should work.

why should he? Maybe because if it wasn't for the industry he wouldn't have half of what he has today, the money, the backing and sponsors all came from the industry. He was great, one of the best ever.. but if it wasn't for the industry, the fans and the media he wouldn't have half of what he has today. So yeh maybe he should give a shit, pretty sure he could help his own brother with racing/riding/training also make appearances to promote his brand he started. Imagine the sales if people actually promoted it with his social media and backing. If you want nothing to do with the industry, say so, thank your fans and move on.

Iv heard storeys on pulp about him contacting companies and them sending him wheels ect when they were planning on starting a team, they sent the parts and still have never heard anything of it, didn't return calls texts nothing. Imagine Federer doing the same. Long time fan, always will be a fan along with the 770thousand fans he has on his instagram still waiting for something!!!!!

LOL - LOL - inhale - LOL

let me get this straight. The most prominent black athlete in this sport's history decides to vanish for 2 years, then randomly pop up on some random dude's IG account as a random 2 min interview. When questioned about this, you say "Cause he doesn't care about the mx community. He's trying to make a difference where its needed."

This is accomplished (apparently) by ignoring all forms of media that are banging on his door, and utilizing random dude's IG account to get this all important message out so that he can save the world? Do I follow?

Or is it that he's a recluse that is perfectly happy with his millions and doesn't give a shit what you or I think about his decisions and is laid back on the couch right now eating Cheetos while 2 kids climb all over him? I'm going to go with option 2.

I totally agree that James doesn’t owe moto fans anything, but I have been following moto since the mid 70’s and it just warms my heart to hear something every now and than about their lives.

So Pulp got punked again!
Maybe that has more to do with Roger Larsen being a tool to Matthes. Per Steve, he reached out and Larsen wasn't about the vlog so to punk Steve he releases the picture on Instagram. Which was a huge dick move as these guys were trying to just do something fun because the world misses Stew.

I dont dispute Jame's accomplishment and contributions to the sport, but cant help but think how arrogant it is to brag about how "I am one of the greatest". RC would never say that, and he towers over James in my opinion.

So he should forever be a slave to the moto industry?

The same people who wouldn’t consider him for a ride?

Or he should do it for the fans? Maybe he doesn’t want to expose his family to hate of some of the ignorant ones who yell racial slurs at him.

If you worked somewhere that a few people constantly harassed you because of your race or ability I highly doubt you would go back.

Beyond that, I think james is/was mentally fried/defeated. He was on top of the world, any team would have thrown tons of money at him to sign with them. He was a contender in any race he entered. He was riding that high. But once his results started to fade and that high of winning gets further and further away it takes a toll on you. When that is all you know and all you’ve ever been good at it can destroy you. You become depressed. You start to question everything. When he tried to make a comeback before he struggled. Because of his ability and failed drug test he is under a microscope. Anything he does people will be sure to comment on. On top of that. People were yelling cheater and horrible things to him..even worse than before.

Anyhow, I’m incredibly bummed that we will likely never see him race again but I get it. The dude seems to have found something that gives him joy and unconditional love. Family

When he posted the first picture of his son on Instagram, if you didn’t see the comments, people were absolutely awful, so awful that James had to make a post and tell people not to say hurtful things about his first born son.

James is awesome. My favorite rider ever by a long shot, I just think it’s perfectly acceptable for him to do an interview directed toward whatever he sees fit, even if it’s non moto and not for “us”...

RC is incredibly arrogant... didn't you see the piece on Chad Reed that RC narrorrated? Or listen to him announce sx, he constantly feels the need to remind everyone how much he won.
