"The precious legends went 3 and out starting their pro career at 16." In terms of age, it's not much different than some of the greats. He's moving up at 19 and still has plenty of time to become an HOFer. I didn't mention his 2nd 250 title coz the championship leader didn't crash out. I was pointing out the similarities. And now you mention against some pretty fast dudes. He only scraped home over mcelrath, with shimoda way back as a rookie followed by marchbanks, lopes and swoll. That's actually a very week field. Chase maybe has 1 250 mx overall. When you look at his 250 career it's actually surprising how good he is racing the 450 these days. He is the top 450 rider now.

Yeah, he lucked into his first 250 championship (he’s admitted it), but you’re conveniently leaving out the fact that he won his second straight up against some pretty fast dudes.

Yea I get the whole you gotta be up there and contending and not trying to take it away from chase. But this is so much like his 1st 250 sx title. 2 races left and the guy with all the wins does a ligament/tendon in there leg. Chase has been fortunate 2 times. What other titles has the leader been injured at the very end?

Been a fan and watching him since debut, I've been harsh on him in the past only because I could see how good he could be if he figured everything out about himself and riding, to watch him finally ride to his potential these past 2 years has been a joy which makes this injury that much more sad, he finally got to where he needed to be was one race off wrapping it up only to get it ripped from you. Would have been so much sweeter if he got his last 2 trophies and called it a day...

ACL is not an Achilles. You're optimistic. That’s to be admired to a certain extent. If you want to give the users here hope with your so called expertise then go ahead. No way will he be even close to ready for lining up at A1. That’s the reality of it, and as I said, 24 MX would be extremely unlikely. If you’d like to revisit this thread at A1 in 24, I’ll save it to my bookmarks and quote your post to tell you I was right or I was wrong.

I feel the exact same way as you. When they showed him hit that section at race speed it didn't look like anything out of the ordinary to me. If the transition from that landing to face were not so aggressive I don't think it would have happened. It was like watching a pitcher rupture their bicep tendon and it rolls down their forearm on a pitch they have done a hundred if not thousands of times before.

Don't be too hard on him. I despised RC because he was so dominant (Reed fan then) and when RC reitred I got surprisingly emotional...seriously. I guess it was from watching greatness before me. I aven't felt that way sense, even with guys I have liked like Dungey and now Tomac.

For those of you who have watched the race or haven't watched it, Eli tore his achilleas, i think we just saw his last race ever. I am going to the first national and I went to the last round of outdoors last year and A1 this year, I will have never met eli. I haven't stopped crying for the last ten minutes. And i turned off the race with less than 3 minutes to go. This season went from amazing to absolutely terrible in two races. Hopefully he recovers well, but this was probably his last race ever.

I think, unlike most of his commentary, that was real Ricky talking. A lot of his commentating seems to be him trying to be someone he's not, but he seemed to be speaking from the heart of a fan and fellow racer who, like many of us, was devastated at the sight he had just witnessed.

I think this is probably the worst timing for a major injury ever. I hate to admit how genuinely devastated I am. If Eli is gonna retire, it was a pleasure seeing him dominate for all these years.
