Were seeing parents who have never touched a bike letting these kids loose without any knowledge of how dangerous this sport is. Parents are more concerned with Instagram clout than teaching children how to be safe on the track.

12/21/2024 1:38pm What sucks is they spent a lot of money to build the GG and HUS brands but seemingly there is nothing to sell off because they employ KTM mechanicals which surely they wouldn’t or couldn’t release to a competitor.

12/21/2024 6:24am I don’t think NA moto is sustainable without the whole amateur kid scene. Around here in TX they seem to make up a large part of the entries. They also transition through bike sizes pretty quickly creating a lot of market.

12/21/2024 6:08am I’d love to see how the racing budget is divided up between NA off-road, Europe off-road, and MotoGP? Any guesses? Seems like they spend a lot of dough in North America to promote scooter sales in 3rd world countries.

12/21/2024 6:01am True - not much difference- they are all way overpriced. Basically my kid and I can pretty much ride all year (entry fees etc) for what we will spend on a 3 hr event - opportunity cost.

Thanks for the discussion, ML and I were talking the other day and he mentioned this...mostly it's never good when you're on here but this wasn't too bad! LOL, I get it- we do have lots of partners..someone added it up a year ago or so and out of five hours, including the 22 min commercial, the ad reads were total 45 min. i have certain customers that ride certain classes and certain bikes to make enough contingency money to keep racing. This is gonna hit those type of families hard.

12/20/2024 9:41am We race off road and collect some contingency here and there from GG and KTM but do not depend on it. On the other end of spectrum are those amateur families highly dependent on the program. They must be really scratching there head about now. Hope it works out for them.

Nobody knows anything about the race teams or contingency or any of that stuff because we don't know the finances of KTM North America. They may have the ability to keep their marketing efforts afloat for a while without the help of Austria. Or Maybe they collapse the moment their funding is cut, we don't know. MotoGP is a totally different deal.

If I remember correctly, we were credited on our parts account when someone used their contingency money at the shop. KTM may do it differently though.

12/20/2024 8:38am I am curious how the contingency program pays the dealer. I assume you use your credits at the dealer and they get reimbursed by the OEM? Hope the dealers don’t get screwed. As a fan/owner of the machines themselves im here for the manufacturing peeps and dealers.
