I'm pulling for the Heat. I hope James gets his championship. He's been playing great ball, as others on the team have too. The coach is kind of a joke, but, eh, whatever.

Shiftfaced Added a reply to Breaking news: US Anti Doping Agency files against Lance Armstrong
6/15/2012 1:44pm Biosports? Is that Schroeders clinic on Worthen?
As for Ed, I read a story on ESPN that they did back in 2008, and it about brought a tear to my eye. Don't take anything or any day for granted.
Keep pedaling......

6/15/2012 8:02am Anybody have a pic of Stewart giving "high fives" to people on the fenceline through the "s" turn after the Ski Jump at Washougal?
I watched him do that in practice back in 2007 and 2008.
Good stuff.....

6/15/2012 7:47am The Jackpiner is a "no go", in my opinion. I bought one about 5 years ago that was in a box. Got it all together, started running it around, and decided that I wanted to "freshen up" the engine, and found out that getting a piston for one of those things was harder than gettting Manny to shut his trap...

6/15/2012 7:10am That comment is almost laughable. No. I take that back. It is TOTALLY laughable! I got hooked into the Tour about 3 years ago, and I cannot BELIEVE the tension, excitement, and drama that unfolds at every stage. Now I am even watching the Crit du Dauphine and now the Tour de Swiss.
Bradley Wiggins looks to be in superb...

6/15/2012 7:06am How is he doing? That was such a TRAGIC accident when he got hit up on Skyline. He had SO MUCH taken away from him, yet he seemed to have such a positive attitude afterwards. I root HARD for his son. I'd like them to have as much success as possible.

6/8/2012 12:44pm This entire conversation was much like what the announcers were saying about LeBron James last night.
He (both Lebron James and James Stewart) is under SO MUCH scrutiny, and receives an undue amount of criticism, no matter what he does, people will NIT PICK the smallest detail, and extrapolate it out to mean something meaningful. It is a sad state...
Shiftfaced Added a reply to What would you do to "fix" America?
6/1/2012 3:29pm We simply have to make US citizens accountable for themselves. I think that the majority are, but some (WAY TOO MANY) become the "squeaky wheel" once they think that somebody else has it one itoa "better" than them. In that instance, they lose sight be being accountable for themselves, and their entire focus shifts to finding that "loophole" (real or...

6/1/2012 2:52pm There have been attempt after attempt after attempt to limit the rights of citizens to vote.
I believe in our republic, in that we elect officials to make decisions on our behalf.
I DO NOT like the "initiative" process that is currently used in California. I am not saying "popular vote on everything", but I do believe that a popular...

6/1/2012 2:18pm To make #8 work, we have to put a tarriff on good produced outside of the United States equivalent to the producing nations "Carbon Footprint". Those who are producing in countries in a sustainable manner will carry less of a surcharge, whereas those who have ZERO environmental regulations hindering their production will be faced with the highest tarriffs.

Shiftfaced Added a reply to New Bicycle
5/30/2012 8:54am Depends on the weight of the bikes, tire width, tire pressures, and maybe a little bit in the gearing.
Put some street oriented "slicks" on your MTB, pump them up to about 80 psi, and go ride. That bike will be about 20% less efficient than a roadie, but 20% more efficient than your MTB with off-road tires pumped up...
Shiftfaced Added a reply to NBA... what a joke
5/29/2012 3:08pm I played basketball, but have never officiated a game. In speaking with those who officiate multiple sports, they all say football is the easiest, even though it has far more rules than the other sports. They talk about the proximity of the fans and coaches being an issue, and the "split second" to decide and make the call. In football...

5/29/2012 1:40pm I am not going to pretend to know what goes on in the professional world, but I officiate high school football. We do 8th grade games up to 5A, which is the largest schooling classification here in Idaho.
I do know that we, as officials, have ZERO concern as to who wins the game; but the coaches and fans all...

5/29/2012 12:55pm Bosh, James and Wade all left money on the table to play together. For them, it was about winning a championship.
Whine about the officials all you want, but it was the exact opposite the final game between Indy and Miami. It seemed like all the "breaks" fell the Pacers way.....
It ebbs and flows, and will ultimately even out...

Thanks.

5/23/2012 8:17am No disagreement there. They are ULTIMATELY responsible, but UPS will stymie a delivery if they can, in the name of increased revenue. They do not care how urgently you needed what they might have had in the truck right outside your home or business. If they see ANY error, regardless of how minute, they will RETURN TO SENDER, and not...

5/23/2012 7:52am Wrong addresses and double labels are a MONEY MAKER for UPS.
The delivery guy can KNOW exactly where it is supposed to go, but if they have a wrong number, or a double lable, they send it back to the sender as "undeliverable".
Then the sender fixes the problem, and resends, but shipping will be paid on both shipments.
I...

5/23/2012 7:33am I see what you are saying.
Hind-sight is 20-20, and we rested upon our laurels.
Your "get it while you can" point is VERY valid. I remember being told in the 2000's that "out-sourcing" was good, because it benefitted the shareholder.
We thought the pie would ALWAYS expand.
We used our homes as ATM's, because the value would ALWAYS increase...

5/23/2012 6:58am I am still wondering how "oceans" made America great.
I am wondering because any benefit they gave us, wouldn't that opportunity also be available to other nations?
It is not like the oceans are a one-sided coin.
