Salsa Spearfish is aluminum framed, carbon-wheeled 29'er, weighs in at about 26 lbs.
Titus RacerX is a pretty fun 26'er.
Specialized Stumpjumper EVO. 1x10 drivetrain; everything is carbon, weighs about 20 lbs. This is from the day I bought the Stumpjumper. Don't worry, reflectors have been removed, and pedals changed out. More »

1/28/2014 8:10am I see MX fading a bit, and EnduroCross gaining steam. Whether we like it or not, getting "butts in the seats" is what will drive each series. While MX is "core", it is also the least visible venue for the fans. Whether we like SX or EX, I see both of those series growing.

1/28/2014 7:12am It is a weird phenomenon. I have been a Seahawk fan since about 1980. I have always had a Seahawk shirt or hat, but rarely wear them. In the past 3 or so weeks, WHENEVER I am wearing something Hawk, I am also getting a lot of "Go Hawks", and "Good luck, Hawks." I think it is just the 12th...

1/23/2014 12:16pmShiftfaced Added a reply to $400 an ounce!
1/9/2014 2:50pm Much like the rise in gold prices, I heard that this was a response to the HIGH demand. When these shops figure out what their demand will be, the prices will probably settle down a bit. How much of that $400 goes to the state? I heard Colorado was expecting 67 million in generated revenues. I bet it is substantially...

12/31/2013 10:03am There has been a progression. In the mid-90's, when these questions were first raised, the opponents said "the Earth is NOT warming". The evidence then proved otherwise. Then the opponents said "it is cyclical, and has always gone on, and always will". While that is true, the question is "What is man's actions doing to contribute to this, and is...

12/31/2013 7:44am Many of us have seen the same thing. I grew up in Ephrata, WA (right in the middle of the state), and we grew up sledding EVERY YEAR. Suicide Hill was the place to be in the winter. Going home these days, kids of have not sledded for YEARS. Trace of snow, if at all, and then gone. Don't worry...

12/10/2013 9:15am On Halloween, a local sports newscaster dressed up like Ron, and did his segment. It just gets better and better as he rolls along.
Shiftfaced Added a reply to Cat got put down today
12/6/2013 7:59am Hold your head up high. NOTHING to be ashamed about here. I never was a cat-person, but my parents-in-law had to relocate across country, and could not take their cat, so I offered. That was about 8 years ago, and he slowly became my best buddy. He was a ferocious hunter; kicked ass on any other cat who stepped on...
Shiftfaced Added a reply to Who here had the pleasure of riding a 500 two-stroke?
11/15/2013 10:40am I think you are hitting the nail on the head, FTE. I had a 2002 KX500 for desert racing, and I was never really overwhelmed by the power. What surprised me was the torque that it produced, and how controllable it really was. People talk like they were an atom bomb or something, but that simply was not the case...
Shiftfaced Added a reply to Any Jeep Owners on Here?
11/4/2013 2:12pm Back when I was in the military (1989-1993), I had a 1984 Jeep CJ-7. It had the inline-6; slight lift; headers; dual exhaust; Weber carb; and 33" tires. I LOVED that rig. I sold it in about 1995, and have wanted to replace it ever since. So, about 2 weeks ago, I bought a 1988 Suzuki Samurai. It has the...

11/1/2013 3:51pm I have heard that a large percentage of the TSA officials are former military members. I wonder what that percentage is. Other than that, Jabroni, you despicable.

10/31/2013 1:12pm I ride in the concrete gutter apron. The only times I have problems is when there is trash/debris in there, or the gutter grates run parallel to the road, instead of perpendicular. As crazy as it sounds, most people who "ride the white line" do so because that is the smoothest and fastest line out there. The paint fills up...

10/31/2013 9:14am It is crap like that that makes golf one of the dumbest endeavors in the world. I had my 20 year class reunion a couple of years ago, and a "pre-function" was meeting up at the golf course for a round on Friday before the festivities really fired up. I don't play golf, but wanted to hang out with the...

Shiftfaced Added a reply to Bike Ticket
10/30/2013 12:46pm No. Take the time to read through the discussion, and you can clearly see that I advocate riding as far to the right as possible, and doing everything you can NOT to hinder motorists. BUT, why not equal treatment? Most road lanes are 12'. Most cars are 8' wide. So, in a typical road section, 24' are dedicated to motor...

10/30/2013 12:10pm Preference has been given to the motorcar. You get to sit side-by-side with your passengers. Why can't the cyclists have the same ability to enjoy the company? How about you and your passengers sit in a single file line? Fair? Most cars are single occupant only anyways......
