The main thing is, dirt bikes are a consumer product. Monster trucks are not. If they can force the race teams to create new technologies or work arounds to lower sound, it will eventually trickle into the new bikes that we buy. In theory, it will give us a better chance at keeping our tracks open which often get closed down due to noise. Now does this work in reality? You are also disregarding the fact that Kawi never publicly said anything dispariging about Prado and continued to put 100% effort into trying to get the bike to his liking (whether they are capable or not doesn't matter). while at the same time Prado was complaining publicly about the team and bike....the final straw was his attempt to purposely not qualify.... I get it, he didn't gel with the bike and was never comfortable on it and wanted out of his contract....but there are way better ways to do that behind the scenes, out of the public eye without damaging...

My assessment hasn't changed...he a fast talented rider who is a complete ass for how he handled himself last year...has nothing to do with speed or talent and has everything to do with personality and actions....find it hard to believe that apologists fail to understand that and think that those that are critical of him are being critical of his talent when in reality its all about how he handled himself last year...

I think what changed is guys used to start floundering when they got in their 30's but this crop is still competing at a really high level. Hard to "shuffle" championship contenders and race winners out of good rides.

I agree with this, there is a backlog in the 450 class due to all the 30 somethings that has disrupted the natural talent flow. There are a lot of guys in the 250 class that have been ready to move up but they can't, so it's harder for the riders coming out of the amateurs to land a team ride.
