We do have third party helmet testing in the u.s. The Snell Foundation is a non-profit organization that creates its own voluntary, more stringent standards than the government's minimum DOT standard. FWIW, helmet pricing tiers have more to do with weight reduction while meeting safety standards than being more protective. Lighter weight = higher cost (generally.) There is a school...

Youre still comparing apples to oranges. Factory teams are combining light bikes with all of the FACTORY components to go with it and the support that it takes to make the bike work. How many hundreds of hours of testing and tuning goes into that factory 220lb bike? Most of vital probably cant count that high. Not to mention 99.9% of dirt bike riders in this world would ride a factory bike and hate it. Thats not even addressing what it could cost to use materials that would allow weight to drop that low. You cant build factory bikes for...

You cant confidently say that though. What if that 15 pounds had a severe affect on handling, you think they would still choose the lighter bike? I think not. For yours people have complained about front end feel on AER equipped KTM's and most people know its due to the fork being light weight. If it was possible or profitable to make a 450 weigh 225 pounds, dont you think they would do it?

It's around 500ml in a shock. But you are right in that it doesn't differ much. Even small changes could make a difference reg heat and cavitation.

Google searching indicates that across 450 brands, the oil volume in shocks is approximately 110-120ml. So no smoking gun when it comes to wp oil volume vs showa or kyb.

I'm sure the team and engineers have looked at it all over and over again, but I wonder if the anti squat geometry is playing havock with the shock.

I agree shock fade is real but this was an issue that is beyond "normal" shock fade. It was bad enough that a factory ride chose to sit out a moto and blamed the equipment in question. Sort of unprecedented. If it were a only a degradation issue, they could have swapped shocks between motos. The circumstances seem to point...

Shock failing and fading maybe also different, and not connected. Or is it fading so bad for certain riders, it can be considered fail, like for viałle? Our media people should be able to get some more info on the topic. I mean besides Prado behind scenes stuff, KTM shock issue is the biggest question mark from this season.

I've pondered the same question. Google indicates the wp shock eyelet length and shaft travel are the same over the last five years, 477mm and 140mm respectively. So the shock external specs itself have not seemed to change. No smoking gun there. If an internal shock part like a piston, piston band, adjuster, etc were failing. I'd have to think the...

Here is what happened...Prado got smoked by Jett, Hunter, Eli, Chase, RJ, and others...it broke him mentally, so he had to blame it on the bike. He felt there was no other option for him. I get it. 2026 he will only have himself to blame, though...he will try harder. It will be interesting. The Kawi was not the problem.

I see a lot of people shitting on this possibility but i also just seen ML straight avoid the question at hand. I think theres a bunch of KTM D riders that want to see tomac on the orange POS but in reality it makes 100% more sense for Tomac to return to Kawi and finish his career and the reason being, Monster Energy.

I dont think so, KR's GNCC dominance is etched in stone and everyone knows it. I heard rumors that racing for yamaha was part of a package deal for Am Pro to use his facility to train. The way it was put to me is, "well pay you to use your facility but you race for us for 2 years". This could be completely off base but thats what I was told from a pretty reliable source. KTM was paying him to be an ambassador and to use his facility, and when that dried up is when this came about.

The difference is that one (Kawi) kept trying, the other (Prado) took the coward’s way out and quit…repeatedly.

Dunlop recently opted out of my dealer program through Rocky Mountain, and i refuse to pay $150 for a rear tire. So this past weekend I through a set of the new michelin starcross 6's on my kids bike and sent him out for 6 motos at KROC. He top 5'd both classes, we will stick with the Michelins for now.
