Not a chance in hell. That's not two comparable riders. I think USA has a good chance though despite France has to be the favourites. You can coose between Febvre, Paulin, Musquin and Ferrandis on the 250 and they will match Tomac, Baggett, Anderson and JMart.

This is so true, except that RV was the best in the world that just needed time to adjust and Tim isn't the best in the world. In my opinion there are at least 4 faster riders: Tomac, Roczen, Febvre & Herlings. I place Tim right alongside Anderson, Barcia, Musquin and Canard. (at their best of course).

Tomac demolished the field in moto 1 with the total time of 35:10. Herlings total time was 35:14. Just 4 seconds slower on a 250. He is not a sand specialist. Why should he be? Even his last year in the GP's Herlings was the sand specialist and they were like 16 yrs old both of them. Roczen has been riding in US only since then. Same tracks, same SX!

I know the circumstances are different even from day to day but I did some time comparisons on the same tracks between 2015 and 2016 and Ken has been consistently many seconds faster this year than Tomac was last year those first races when he was crushing it.
