Webb 2 Thumbs Up

Watched his MXGP studio show interview. I think he just became one of my favorite rider personalities, great, respectful, talented champion.

Such a interesting guy!

Btw it was obvious that they would ask about him riding a full MXGP season some times in the future. The answer he gave was interesting if we draw parallels with that and the rumor of a 22 race SX series.

Lets put our tinfoil hats on. There are 2 USGPs now and i'm sure that Luongo and Monster wants even more. Put that together with a 22 race SX season and lets say 5 USGPs with the MXGP season ending 2-4 weeks after the last SX race(all planned so it's possible to do both series of course). That is the first step in the progression of a longer SX season and a real world championship of motocross. In that case who is the first rider US based rider to compete in SX and MXGP(skipping the nationals). I'm not saying that it would be Webb, but very interesting bench racing in my opinion.

If a 22 race sx happens and somebody wants to do any Mx races, the payouts will be HUGE

Wait, how would that be a real world championship if the US guys are only doing 5 races of it?

How about this - 15 race SX series with 7 qualifying races and 8 championship chase races, and then a 15 race world MX championship that includes all US and current MXGP racers. Currently US based riders do 17 sx races + 12 outdoor races = 29 races. This would only be 1 extra race per year but imagine how cool that would be?

How 'bout Youth Stream starts its series in February, ignoring Supercross, and conducts a true motocross series of 18 or more events on multiple continents? American riders and teams would be free to join same as anyone else. That would work.

My thought was that the american based teams would do the full series, just like everyone else.

Great interview. Am i the only that was thinking how much he looked like Herlings in that interview??

Yeah I get you guys's point, i felt that way for a while, when he would give that cheeky grin and look down the camera. Coops, interview with Paul Malin in the studio show (dont know if you guys got to see it) was spot on. Showed he is a well deserved captain of the USA des nations team IMO.

Webb is a throwback of sorts in that it seems he's willing to race any place any time as opposed to trying to get out of certain races . Maybe that will change as he gets older but that's just the way it seems to me.

He really had a great year and seemed to mature a lot in the process. To win both indoors and out, and suffer a broken wrist in the process, is just phenomenal. He's turned the corner now.

That works out great if you dont want the best riders in your series.

Yeah, right. When GP fans show up and see Cairoli, Gajser, Febvre, Nagl, Desalle (next year add Herlings), I really don't think they're wringing their hands over AMA guys. The best one is a German anyway.

And if they're so good, maybe someone should spend a few years on the GP circuit and prove it. That's what Brad Lackey did. Everything else is just talk.

There is nothing to dislike (skärp dig föffan!)
He is as nice as Marvin, hard working, talented and humble on top of that!
The only thing he isn't today is the fastest guy on a 250, you'll see.
But he will be a top rider for years. One of few that can become the best.
All the best for Coop.
