Gajser in the US

Let me start off by saying: Tim Gajser is my second favorite rider in the world right now (Tomac is first).

We all know that Gajser is not actually coming to the US in 2017, but the idea of that had me beside myself. I really wanted him to come over and lay a whooping on our guys to prove his GP titles were not flukes.

With that said, where would you guys place him in US National motocross? I love the guy, but I think the one day schedule we have here would hinder his results. Gajser's Charlotte performance is my evidence. Standing in the stands watching him go down in moto 2 left a bitter-sweet taste in my mouth.

After that, I think Gajser's performance would be on-par with Musquin's. Would astound me to see my guy mix it up with the top in the US, but where do you guys place him in the grand scheme?

I think after some time in the US he could be battling for wins. Roczen was able to adapt, Gajser could do the same.

Tim would probably win 2-4 motos in the US outdoors if he raced them in 2017, likely towards the end. It would be the same reasons (low track time per event, heat, humidity new format). The next year he would be better.

This year is a really big year for him. Herlings will not be easy to walk over, he could really lower Tim's hype if Jeffrey beats him down for 18 rounds.

I was just thinking that he needs to concentrate on beating Herlings before he comes over here. He's got nothing to prove here...he's got lots to prove racing Herlings. If he can't beat JH, then he might want to avoid coming here.

Not sure how he's fair in the US Nationals. But if I were a betting man I'd bet he comes in 2nd behind herlings in the 2017 mxgp

Top 5, if he has to do the full schedule that the AMA guys do.

He will have lots to prove here once he jumps series. I agree, he has Herlings along with Febvre, Cairoli and crew to worry about this year.

Gajser is a world MX champ. I think if he came here it would take some adapting, but he would be up to Roczen, Dungey and Tomacs speed within a year. I don't know that he could beat the consistency of Dungey and Roczens consistency of last year in MX since Gajser seemed to have a few really bad rounds. But speed wise, he can be or is there.

On neutral terrain he would have a hard time beating Roczen or Dungey, let alone on tracks that they know and he doesnt.
If he had gone to the US in 2017 he could have maybe lucked out to win a moto or two, IMO.
It's different to get thrown into the 450 class shark pool, especially in supercross.

BUT if he really makes the jump in 1-2 years and survives Supercross without an injury (which is not a given), he will make his way to a champion at some point, I'm sure.
That guy is something special, his learning curve is incredible. I also think he will beat Herlings next year (wouldn't bet on it though)

I think he would be a front runner in short time. If he gets beat by Jeffrey this year so what, he's already got a championship not many current riders have. if he wants to come to the US he needs to do it in 2018. He would add alot to the US series.

He would be around top 5 but JH84 is superior, and I do think a healthy Febvre will beat Gajser as well on most tracks. What I really would like to see is Herlings breathing down the necks of Tomac and Roczen. Those two are the only ones that stand a chance against him, and I'm not even sure they would?! But I believe they would I might add.

Outdoors JH vs roczen and tomac would be great to see. Won't ever happen but it would be awesome.... In SX herlings would struggle against the better SX guys IMO

I personally don't think he will ever come here full time. People have too big of egos to chance getting beat. Not saying Americans are superior or anything like that, but very rarely does a Euro come here and immediately have great results.. Supercross is tough, one day format is tough, heat and humidity have troubled more than a few, and the intensity always catches people off guard. Don't get me wrong, I would love to see him over here because he is world class talent, but I am not too sure.

Depends on how healthy the field would be when they hit the outdoors. Last summer was pretty thin. He could and would win his share. You don't win back-to-back world titles by accident.

I'd love to see him come over. Although, he'll need to tone it down a bit for SX if he wants to make it to the nationals.

SX i dont see him doing much ,too many fast more experienced riders. Outdoors he can do good top 5? Tomac pretty much smoked him and the entire GP crew if thats any indication.

It depends on 400 billion different things. Thats why predicting the outcome of anything is a fools game.

The insight you all have is amazing though....cough, cough

We can all agree, he would do well in USA.

Lets not forget, he won all championships, he rode in his career. European 65, European 85, European 125, World yunior 125, World 250, World 450, and all that before his 20th birthday.

He also did well on Eurpean SX, against M. Stewart, and Febvre. Also rode well against Dungey on SMX event.

He is up there. In the elite.

all I know is that mxgp will be insane this year and I'd rather have tim stay in mxgp. I think he has more to loose than to gain if he chooses to race sx.

He would probably be on par with how RV's performance was when he raced the GP's.

This is so true, except that RV was the best in the world that just needed time to adjust and Tim isn't the best in the world. In my opinion there are at least 4 faster riders: Tomac, Roczen, Febvre & Herlings. I place Tim right alongside Anderson, Barcia, Musquin and Canard. (at their best of course).

Who wants to train like a robot, race boring tracks all season long and struggle to find a ride, while you can travel all around the world, live like a boss and be a WORLD champion.

Why would Gajser want to step down to a national series ? SX is the main draw to US. Not all GP riders want to brain themselves in a stadium each wk end.

The GP's offer a more technical outdoor challenge then the US nats. Stepping down to a national series is a waste of a true world class talent.
