9/21/2025 2:30pm It's alive! Runs real strong. Fired on the second kick. It would have fired on the first kick but it caught me off guard lol. I had to take the rear axle out of my other 480, but I'll swap them out when the new one comes in.

I had the 84 CR500, what a blast, even being tough to start sometimes. But it a year used for $900 put in a fork seal, raced it a season and sold it for $800. Yeah that was alot of fun for $100. Wish I kept it Lean it over to flood the ports a bit and kick. Raced it and CR125 the same season, 2 very different but very fun bikes.

There's something about the early honda cr 480/500 which draws people to them. I have a 1985 cr 500 which always draws a crowd wear ever I go. Yes it can be a bitch to start until you get the knack and the power is to much for the average person. It's one of the only things from my youth that I still remember each time I ride it I'm back.in the 80s 18 and young lol

9/14/2025 4:21pm Did some more tinkering. Got the cone pipe and silencer on. I'll have to fab up some sort of mount for the top of the pipe. The previous owner broke it off and then welded a nut to the frame but it's in the wrong location. Cleaned the carb and installed it as well. Bike is ready to fire.

That tab / extension to the RH side Swingarm end 'cap' : I'm wondering, is it a 'bit' to stop the chain from going down into the brake / backing plate (during just routine maintenance, I'd think), or, could it be a back up if say, the brake torque arm breaks, the backing plate then rotates, and you'd still have brake (at least for a tiny amount of time) ? A lot of bikes over the years, have had neat little things, to stop / minimize potential problems. I personally liked the vertical nylon plates on Swingarms towards the front...

Looks like a homicidal radical was pretty fearful of his message. RIP Charlie Kirk. Fond memories of watching his election night coverage on his website for several hours straight, and felt like my wife and I were celebrating with him and his team after Trump took the victory. You could tell from the interaction between him and his team that he was one hell of a leader, and his co-hosts and staff would have followed him anywhere.

There are people that want to shut people up that believe in god. He was having a tremendous influence on kids at universities that are being preprogrammed. I was fearful something would happen to him. I never really thought he would be executed on stage though. This was a horrific event and i pray for his family. Rest in peace Charlie.

9/7/2025 3:28pm Did some small bits today. Got the rear brake pedal and cable all polished up. Did the swingarm caps as well. Also cleaned up the Honda wire clamps, and bolted up the cdi box and coil. Bikes look so fresh when they have the correct clamps instead of zip ties.

9/5/2025 7:07pm Forgot to post some internal engine pics. The bore looked pretty good. I took out both rings and measured them. They were at .024" which is right at the service limit according to the manual. I jumped on eBay and found a set of OEM Honda rings for a CR 480 for cheap. I installed them after a mild hone...
