7/21/2025 7:52am It's not just the anodizing, you have to get all of the scratches out, and deeper marks from tire irons, otherwise they will stick out like a sore thumb. On deeper cuts ideally you should weld them up, and grind them down. If you just sand out the scratches and cuts and follow up with a polish, you made the...

7/21/2025 5:01am Honestly that is likely where I'm going to go. That company produces a better gold color than the Excel rims. The price is right as well, plus they have a 480 on their website and it looks badass! I figure $500~ish shipped for 2 rims isn't too bad. People put those gold Excels on vintage bikes and I can spot...

7/20/2025 9:34am Disassembled the front wheel today. Broke 2 of the longer spokes on the non-brake side. Needed the torch to loosen 12 of them. The rest came off no problem. The rim itself is in excellent shape, but I'm going to explore options of getting some gold rims. They look so bad ass on vintage bikes. If I can score a...

7/19/2025 3:46pm There's a small dilemma about the correct powder coat color for 83-87 CR's. It's probably been beaten to death but a lot of guys swear by the paint code RAL 2002. I ordered 2 spray cans for my last CR project and it is too orange. Almost looks like KTM orange to me. I took a few pics of the...

joelster Added a reply to 04 KX125 125 PSI Compression After Rebuild and Reeds
7/13/2025 2:51pm Compression will go up 20-30psi once it runs for 30+seconds and the rings expand. If yours is still low after all of that work then compression is likely bleeding out somewhere other than the piston rings. Power valve could be the culprit.

7/13/2025 5:39am There's so many tips and tricks to do this. I used to use a torch to heat things, now I rely on a heat gun. The heat gun won't damage any paint, and you can set it up, and walk away for 5 minutes to let it do its job. Put the races in the freezer. Use a dead blow...

joelster Added a reply to 2003 CR85 hanging idle issue HELP!!!!!!!!!
7/8/2025 4:42am When you say a hanging idle, I'm assuming you mean it's hovering around 1500-2000rpm or so. Check the throttle cable, it may be kinked or broken. Pull the airbox off of the carb and unhook the throttle cable at the throttle and make sure that the slide goes all the way down to the bottom. If that slide is up...

7/1/2025 6:55pm Had a couple of setbacks. 1 was the rear shock that decided to puke out all the oil, and the other was the clutch that decided to not engage. I sent the shock out to our local madman Steve Mathewson. He rebuilt it, filled it with oil, charged it with nitrogen, vapor honed some of the parts, and even fixed...

6/30/2025 4:46am Blame the tracks not the bikes. It's not the bikes' fault that there are 90+ foot triples on all of these tracks, or insane gaps that the top guys make every lap. There's a huge event coming up in my area called Zoar Valley Motocross Reunion. It's a track from the 70's/80's. There's maybe 3 or 4 places on it...

6/29/2025 6:48pm The PC pipe I bought fits perfectly. The UFO front fender , rear fender and front number plate are also perfect. The Maier side panels suck. They sort of fit but nothing like the original Yamaha stuff. The fork boots were good, the seat cover not so much. I guess I'm about 50/50 as far as cosmetic stuff goes lol.
