Put the shock together today. Painted the cylinder and head. Got them back from Millenium and they look excellent! I'll get the engine assembled this week and into the frame. Have to build the wheels too.

Ohlins shock too nice score. I hv the vintage itch big time. I can’t decide between a 89 or a 93-97 cr125. My 04 doesn’t hv a vintage class in Midwest vintage. The Mo. series does.

I mentioned earlier about having to do an aternate method of using the lower engine mount. I decided not to drill thru the frame, didnt wanna disturb it that much. So I made a bracket out of some left over grade 50 steel. I found a small piece of the thinnest I had and cut drilled and painted it. Then I used a piece of 1/4 6061 L and welded it to the cast piece below the swingarm pivot. There is no room for a bracket to come back on the right side of the engine because of a bulge...

Started to polish the flat sections of the swingarm. It's a tedious process. I do it all by hand except for the final buff. Start with 400 grit, then 800, 1000 1500, 2000 and then a liquid polish and a final buff with a dry wool pad.

Did a quick mockup of the plastics. Glued the new seat foam to the base. Going to install the seat cover tomorrow. The plastics are a mix of UFO and VMX. The rear fender was way too red. Luckily I have a kit for an 87 CR 250 sitting here so I grabbed the rear fender from the box. There...

I'm going to go with Full Circle Racing rims again. I'm using the stock hubs. I'll likely get new spokes as I had to cut a bunch. The Excel "gold" doesn't look right on the vintage bikes. I looked at the Rimsplus stuff a bit. They have instagram, facebook, and mxlocker but no regular site with pricing that I could...

If your looking for rims look up Rimsplus. I got Excel Takasago in blue and kinda burnt bronze hubs for a price that nobody else could even get close to.

Crf Blaster The crf engine is light. I did the math before and subtracting the radiators and hoses and lighter perches without the hot start all said I guestmate 10 pounds or so difference. Matbe a little more. However when you pick the engines up you can feel the CRF is top heavy and the blaster engine has all the weight at the bottom. Combined with the fact that the engine is much shorter I am positive the center of gravity will be much lower overall. I am not an expert, but feel it must be a positive for handling.

Millenium will do a decompression valve for $149. That seemed like a no-brainer for me. I didn't see it listed on their website but the salesman I talked to said they do them all the time. He was very well versed in CR 500's. He said that they do tons of them. My parts will arrive to them Wednesday. The...

I sent everything out to millenium. They are going to install a decompression button while they are in there. I tried to polish the lower fork tubes today. Lots of elbow grease. The factory Honda lowers have a clearcoat of some sort on them. It's gets beat up over the years. 320 grit cuts right through it. I did 320...
