As stated above, is a cheap plastic trophy really that important? Quite honestly, 99.9% of these folks can't push a stock bike to the limit so the added power mods they do are worthless. If you absolutely have to do something, I'd spend it in suspension and reliability. You'll get more bang for the buck and you'll see much better results overall from a bike that's actually ridable.

I never saw it as a problem being "outlaw" out west. I've never seen an issue that having an AMA sanction would fix. Bad behavior is bad behavior. People will be assholes whether it is a sanctioned event or not.

Kris was six seconds off qualifying in 2019 at Fox Raceway. On a bike he didn't really like too much...and a mental mess. I'm around Kris a decent amount, he's riding better than ever...he's on a bike he likes...the class is way thinner...I think he can do it. A few things I do now, but I am still learning as well. Disclaimer - I do not race much, mostly practice days 2-3 times a month if I'm lucky. Buy spray can fluids from Walmart - brake cleaner, contact cleaner, etc. Heck even motor oil (yes in the past I have used their marine 2 stroke oil and it works FINE for a stock two stroke average joe practicer). It's cheaper and gets the job done. Now that I own a 4 stroke though, I have gone with the Shell Rotella. But I get that huge jug at Walmart...

Get a decent bike and leave it close to stock

Learn how to do your own suspension service and revalving. Dont buy stuff you dont need. Older two strokes are not a way to save money. Older bikes in general are clapped out money pits.

This was my ride in college (2013-2019). 2003 Mini Cooper S. Never had a single issue and it was fun! MPG was good too. I wish I kept the thing instead of selling it for $2500.

One vehicle is always better than two even if the gas mileage is not great. When you consider maintenance, insurance, depreciation, and the initial cost of a second vehicle....it far outweighs gas mileage differences. If you want a dedicated vehicle for moto that is a different story and you should do that, but it will not be "cheaper" when you compare those factors.
