Praying for y’all, I’m 62 my 15 yrs old grandson wants to start racing, but it scares me to death to think about him getting hurt! I’ve been racing since 15 , yes I’ve had some injuries but nothing I would consider major until this year, I cross rutted on the face of a jump went down hard knock myself out for a couple minutes, that was a wake-up moment for me, I really thought I was done at that point, but I’m just not ready to stop! Yeah, it's not for me. Later in the thread I posted about my 12yo getting knocked out, laying there unconscious, broken arm, etc. The question really is would you push on after or consider just keeping your kids "safer" in regular sports.

I turn 65 next March. Got my Medicare card in the mail last week.🙄 Pissed me off because I'm not old...in my mind.😂 But I CAN tell a distinct difference in my skills vs when I was in my 40's and early 50's. My days of lining up on my modern bike are probably over but I'll continue to vintage race. I've been at it for 54 years now. As long as I ride within MY limits and stay away from spodes who won't I'll continue to have fun.

First off - you are all tough MFers. This sport kind of demands it. For me at 62 - I cant stop just yet. I have had a many average injuries over time but have been able to bounce back decently. Actually getting more into it with working out more, riding every week and trying to get competitive. My goal is to do about 10 races in 2025. Not sure how long I will go - depends on how I feel. I applaud all of you and am proud to be part of the this MX community.

Wonder if this will impact the development of the new Ducati 450? If so, didn't anyone see this economy becoming stagnant? It could not stay at Covid levels long before it flamed out. That's just college economics 101....... I for one don't understand the world economics of these European countries that produce motorized goods, as the all seem to have some financial hardship. Of course, the EV push that isn't selling has hurt them all very badly..... It makes Suzuki seem somewhat intelligent with their philosophy on mx bikes to be honest. At least in this world economy.

My intention is to be on a fun and safe MX track at 80 plus! I'm 73 and still gettting after it. My injury list is long and it's certainly not a badge of honor! This is a risky sport and the penalty for an error is high. I still will jump some big gaps with the proper approach. I will not jump a series of gaps or even tables anymore as I cannot muster the courage to process and time all of them. Washougal is a good track as there is really not a lot of do or die...

65 years old, can't seem to put it away. I'v broken bones from head to toe, and usually back on the bike when healed up. Spending more time off-roading, but still hit the moto track. Hmmm... when will I hang it up? Maybe when I can no longer throw my leg over the seat, or my balance is so bad I fall over in the parking lot. When it's in your blood, there's really no escaping it.

I was taught by going through Kawasaki dealer management school many years ago that every dealership has 3 pieces to the pie. Sales department, Parts department and Service department. Every dealership profits have to pay for the buildings they operate out of, pay every employee you see, pay for New bikes, pay for every part in the parts department shelf’s. Take out 1 piece of the pie and the dealership is on its way to closing. Parts departments can not afford to stock parts that people are not walking through the doors to purchase because they are buying so many...

The market isn't dead and the economy is not horrible. They just had bad timing that the austrian dealers all got super loaded up with inventory in the last year and its taking a while to flush it all through the market. Its a great time to buy a new bike.
