Ktm did it in 2016 when they had condensers shorting out. I had a 450 shut off 3rd gear WFO ramping down a hill. Sold it Immediately after the 3 months of warranty work. First year bikes are a crapshoot regardless of brand.

This^^^ I don’t get the whole I am too big for a 250f or 350f thing. If you are coming off a 10 year lay off at 36 and last bike was a 125 you would be perfectly fine on a 250f as you are basically starting from just above scratch anyway. You’ll get more laps in and progress faster starting smaller and growing into (skill/shape wise) a bigger bike in the event you start wringing the snot out of a 250f. There are lots of newer guys on 450’s that can’t go for more than a couple laps, including...

I got a vortex ecu from James for my 18 350 and had him remap it for my 21. He does amazing work and would highly recommend. The performance gains you will get are amazing.

There’s more vibration on the YZ250 compared to the Austrian bikes. I put a BRP top clamp with rubber mounts on mine, and they are now pretty close. The ktm still vibrates less, but you have to deal with an air fork.

I’m sure there are plenty of dealerships that have motorcycles OTHER than the model I clearly stated I was looking for that they would sell.

Gnarly, hadn’t seen that. I don’t know any of those situations but wouldn’t want it happening to me! Now back to Kawi, most can admit they age quicker than most other bikes. They also had some issues with bolts rattling loose. Their fit and finish is just kinda shitty. But again, pick a color. And as I previously said, depends how long you will keep the bike. Every too tester in this industry agrees KTM and Yamaha’s hold up the best. Kawasaki is at the bottom of that list. If you keep a bike 50 hrs, it won’t be an...

250 two stroke and learn how to ride. I see WAY too many people at the track on a 450 with terrible technique and out of shape just waiting for a WWE smack down.

A lot of the people I talk to that think they are good have never ridden a truly good fork set up. I was pretty disappointed as I purchased a 21 vs a 20 pretty much solely on the fork updates.

Seems like a lot of the magazines say Yamaha is top of the heap for durability, at least the 450. I can't speak to that personally. My mechanic friends tell me Yamaha, KTM, Honda, Suzuki and Kawi, pretty much in that order from best to worst these days. My personal experience is that the Kawis do not hold up well, at least the little 2 strokes, only big Kawi I owned as a 1994 KX500. The little Kawi 2 strokes are trash, motors, bottom ends and frames going down left and right even with good maintenance. I unfortunately became a...

Amen! Not one of these 2021 bikes can do something my (mint) 2008 RM250 can. Until something different is on the market, (electric) then I won’t buy another new bike. (I’ve had 18 brand new mx bikes in my lifetime so far)

At $11-$12k for a new 450 I’d be walking away without a new bike. I love riding and racing, but I’ll stick with an old clapped out bike instead of paying $11-12k for a brand new bike. The fact that we are at the point of willing to pay $12k for a new bike is just telling dealers and manufacturers that they can continue raising prices and we won’t say or do anything about it.

I agree. My point being eggshells don't last 80 hours on a mototrack ridden hard.
