I mostly ride MTB and offroad nowadays so going to sell my low hour YZ250. Bike has some minor mods for perfect performance. In January I tore it to the frame replaced and greased all the chassis bearings and rebuilt the suspension with all oem seals, bushings and other parts. I’ve put 7 hrs on it since. Bike comes the following: APEX Head w/100oct dome and wiseco piston. PC works pipe w/304 silencer. Excel rims freshly laced with MX34s - 0 hrs time. Protaper chain and sprockets. Renthal folding brake. 2022 270mm Yamaha rotor and 2022 larger rear rotor and...

I don’t even want to think about it lol. Too damn much but it makes me happy! Bought in Sept of ‘13 with 2 hrs on it for $4,500. Bike is a 2011 in 2015-2021 plastics. Nickel plated bolt kit, lots of carbon & some Ti here & there. Wanted myself a “Factory Edition” YZ250 and I’ve got it

If you are nostalgic about the old RM, I would say get an 06 or 07 RM 250. You will never need another bike again. They are still deadly and super fun to ride. I don't have one, but my best riding buddy does and I ride it a lot. It's a super fun bike to ride. Something about those 2000's era 2 strokes is just different than the new stuff.

There are a hundred other things that are hurting local racing more than a kid not being able to sandbag.

Midwest riding over here is still solid, I’m in northern Indiana. So 1.5 hours from Joliet Mx (IL) 50 mins from Redbud (MI) 39 min from Motoland (IN) 50 mins from LTMX (IN) 2 hours from Wildcat Creek (IN) 2 hours from Log Road (MI) 2 hours from Dutch sport park (MI) 2 hours from B-52 (IL) And almost all these places have races throughout the summer. Unfortunately only 3 have open practice consistently though. Also not to mention motoland!! Just opened back up (A+ track) and supposedly the owner says he’s trying to be open a lot this year!

There are a handful of open riding options within a few hours from the southern tip of Lake Michigan (IL, IN, WI, MI). Practice day turnout is good. Local racing turnout is low for classes other than minis and C.

Rumor has it that Drew from Lincoln Trail and Demetrius's from Wildcat Creek are joining forces to get Motoland back up and running. Looks like I’m going to have to learn to ride a proper sand track! Check out @therealmotoland on Instagram.

Why isnt bike geometry evaluated? MX needs standards like bicycles because its helpful in picking what you want based on past experience. I think body type has a huge effect on how a bike will work. For example, if you are 5'2 your weight distribution and position are quite different from somebody 6,4. I know how an MTB will work for me based on reach, stack, chainstay length, bb height head angle, and rear suspension leverage curve. Example, I ride a little off the back, so i prefer a steeper HA to get more front end grip. Moto is like,"...

I would size down vs up. A tight fight will eliminate slop in the boot and reduce the chance of wrenching your ankle. I wear a 10.5 - 11 shoe and wear a 10 in mx boots.

Stand on the palm of feet with toes in, this will cause you to grip the bike with your knees and inner thigh, so you don't have to have a death grip with your hands. From the waist down you should be center on the bike, so your knees should not be bent more than a slight bend, from the waist up, you should be in attack position with your head positioned above handlebar pad and a have a straight back alignment and this should force you to have your elbows up in the attack position. Learn to loosen your...
