Elsewhere it falls after current rider and sponsorship contracts have expired so it is not on the calendar and not a part of the teams' budgets. We get to the end of the season and the AMA starts asking about riders for the MXdN and the teams act shocked and start scrambling. Rinse, repeat, every year.
