I really like my X-Force Carbon. LS2 sponsors me, as well as my local race series, which is awesome. They seem to be passionate about local racing. There are a few Pro SX/MX guys wearing the X-Force Carbon and Kyle Chisholm wore the Subverter a few years ago. It is definitely a worthwhile option when considering a new helmet.

I completely agree supporting your local dealer if all things being equal or at least close to it. I would 100% be down with that. Is building a relationship part of paying the $2k higher price that my local dealer is quoting me for the same exact bike that a dealer 3 hours away is quoting me? Is that the initiation fee for future discounts from my local dealer? We're not talking a couple hundred $$$. How does that happen? If I go to buy a motorcycle, I'm dealing with a salesman. I buy the bike today and hope to ride it for 2-3 years. In 2-3 years, will the salesman even be the same guy? Will he remember me? And if I go to that same shop to buy parts and accessories during the 2-3 years, I won't be dealing with the salesman. I'll usually be dealing with a different cashier every time I go. How will the salesman (or owner?) know that I spent another $1,000/year at his shop? I'm not blaming the dealership...

That's a great theory but unfortunately most local dealers suck really bad. Example, just yesterday I went to a local dealer for a clutch shaft lock washer for my KTM 350. You need this every time you do a clutch and around me you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a 350. Why do I have to wait 4 days for something that should be on the shelf? The other problem is my local dealer doesn't have what I'm looking for, hence the desire to search easily.

Moto dealerships are mostly like an auto zone who ask your year, date etc for your vehicle when your buying a snickers bar.

Gypsy tales has a recent interview with Jimmy Button. He talks about all of these guys texting back and forth. Basically saying all of this drama, the moto media feeds us, is fabricated.
