I'm not surprised some of the tough cool core old school was better guys got offended by what Paul has mused here but even though Haiden did win the title.. he was meant to, from all reports dominate like we've never seen and he did not.. and all the 'oh but he won the title' posts have missed the point probably on purpose
I'm not saying it was underwhelming but if you say you weren't expecting more 'domination' especially after Kitchen pulled out at the start of the year you might be kidding yourself

He obviously is not fully developed as an SX rider, but his skill and fitness has still shone through and led to a well-deserved title. Sure, it was looking like this was a field that he should've dominated, but at the same time, nobody expected Davies to be this insanely great as a rookie. Additionally, Beaumer took a pretty big step. With those two involved, the field wasn't as "weak" as it appeared at the beginning of the season when Levi switched coasts.
Davies got reeled in and passed. That does not equate to being "the faster guy all night"
