The reason chad wants to start a team now has to be because tate should be turning pro in a couple years right? Tate definitely has a long way to go but not having to worry about a team and just being able to grind would definitely give him the best shot to get better. Hes gotten 31st and 37th at lorettas so I dont think teams will exactly be lining up, but he also started later than many kids. Chad is doing what any dad would do and giving his kid the best chance to win. He also knows how to run a team so its good for the sport and gives a few more rides to riders. It honestly gives tate a better shot at succeding not getting bounced around privateer teams and worrying about anything other than racing. Should be fun to watch if chad can turn him into a top guy with full control over his career.

Who cares? Chad has the respect of everyone in the industry for knowing exactly how a race team should be ran. He also has a son who is decently fast and he believes will be a good racer. If Chad has the resources, and Tate wants to give a go, who are we to say anything? Further more, Chads team was such a breathe of fresh air when Two Two Motorsports came to fruition.  The paddock could use more teams with good bikes on the line

Chad literally said he wants Tate to ride for him and he wouldn’t want him on any current team in the paddock.

Chad has a ton of experience and all that, I'm sure he'll do well with the team..

If he did say that, its very shortsighted.  He doesn't have more to offer than Roger and Ian,  or Mitch.

Chad has magic rocks. Don’t think Mitch or Rog can offer magic rocks like chad.

Not a Chad fan but dont hate him.  But I think it is awesome that he would start a team.  As stated above 22 Motosports was a success and think his new team would be as well.  A new team offers more rides which is good.  And if he gives his kid a shot - good for him!!

No. No you’re not the only one. I’d be surprised if not everyone could see that coming when it was first mentioned.

I’m too old to find the clip, but it was from a recent interview. Maybe from one of the Australian supercross interviews?

Never say never but Tate has a lot of work to do before he can be a pro. I mean a lot.

chad has unique experience of running a team, winning and knowing how to test and develop a bike. the main thing he doesnt have is the resources of KTM or PC

Both would be good options but i have a feeling its really more chad has his own way of running things and he would probably get too much resisitance in training and testing the way he believes in

Any dad would build a pro motocross team for their kid? Why is there a student loan crisis?

They are/were both pretty “picky” about brands.

Didn’t Reed ride all the available bikes before choosing for 22 racing?

What would it cost? Let’s say someone rich wanted to start a team from scratch and have say Sexton ride for them. Have a 5 year plan to build and run a team and do supercross and the nationals. How much investment do you think we would be looking at?

I’m no expert but I’d be thinking for that level over five years you’d expect no change out of $10M.  Or maybe more.

I don’t think Chase joins Chad.. yet, but it would be ironic..

Chad left Kawi in 09 after complaining about their lack of flexibility, then started two two..

That’s an easy out to avoid the disappointment when no team would want his kid

I think it would only work for Reedy to have his kids racing on his own program. He’s super knowledgeable, has beaten all the best teams in the pits by building his own team and own support. I wouldn’t doubt he knows what it takes and can do it. However he is pretty opinionated and no doubt would be a lot for any team to manage, so as much as it might work for Tate to race for Dad, it probably wouldn’t work as much racing somewhere else unless Chad can let go of the reigns.

Tate also might not qualify or finish well at Loretta’s but I don’t think it matters that much. He rode the Aus SX over here and was really good on an SX track.

Reedy has also been a staunch supporter of all things SX in and out of the US (WSX) but also poured a tonne of money into the SuperX series when he kicked it off in Aus. I think he see’s the value in SX in America and is trying to create that business outside of the US. He puts his money where his mouth is, can’t knock him for that.

Interesting that Reed left Kawasaki, started his own team on Honda's (while James Stewart was having a fairly Sexton like experience on Yamaha) then came all the way back around, dropped the Honda's and of his own free will, chose Kawasaki out of all the bikes available for his TwoTwo Motorsports team.

Yeah super weird, it's almost as if bikes change and evolve over time.

a few years ago Deegans were teasing starting their own team.

Might be too many kooks in the kitchen with Reed there too

Right? Apparently Reed decided it was the best bike when he chose it.

From 2010 - 2020, they won 5 450 sx titles and 5 450 mx titles between RV and ET. While Honda was going through a long stretch without any 450 titles and Yamaha wasn't winning at all in the 450 class for quite a few of those years.

And even with things standing as they are, they aren't facing a massive winless streak like Yamaha was in the years after Stewart left.

They've definitely enjoyed good years while watching their competitors have rough ones. It will be interesting to see how they respond to this.
