Amazing that the series is going out on a track destroyed by God and a race canceled at half distance.

Here is a link that talks about a 50 Million budget during start up to pay riders and teams. How would it make sense to say pay me a million for startup and then we will pay you per round. No teams would do that as they wouldn't make their money back.

They created 10 licenses for exclusivity. Team buys a license, they have guaranteed spots. Then they have the option to sell the license, hence the 'investment'.

Where does it say they purchased them? You are making an assumption. I think they reviewed the applicants and provided the top 10 applicants a spot...

That’s an assumption by me just as them having to pay is an assumption by you. Maybe they did pay I just haven’t seen anything that’s explicitly said so nor has anyone provided anything that does.

I know youre making an assumption. Im trying to tell you I actually heard otherwise, it was an interview with either Tony Cochran or Adam Bailey. They were explaining it. Its been years so I dont remember the exact podcast, so I hope it all makes sense from the wsx link I posted.

That's a bummer. Hats off to the promoters. They did a pretty decent job of getting it off the ground. It couldn't have been easy.

I guess the only good that will come of this us that Super Duper Motocross will go away.

WSX had potential and was great for international SX fans, but they made too many  mistakes. I'm sure the folk at Feld are gleeful.

Heard the closure news on national radio today while driving at work. Didn't have that on my bingo card.

There's no such thing as a viable dirt bike racing series without manufacturers devoting a big part of their marketing budget to subsidizing it. When that didn't happen, it was only a matter of time before they called it quits.

Biggest question to me is do some of these SX/WSX deals become SX/outdoors deals? Feel bad for the guys that signed the deals but they had to know this was a real possibility.

Your link does not say anything about the teams paying the promoters to be a team. Maybe they paid a small fee for a license application or something but that was never the topic. I am not passionate enough about the WSX topic to keep asking for clear evidence or research it myself. I was hoping that someone could provide a link that says, "Teams paid a fee to the promoters to be selected as a team.", but that didn't happen. I am not someone who is worried about being proved wrong, that is how people learn. However, this isn't a topic I am passionate enough about to continue.

It was a BS series from the beginning that hardly anyone gave credence to. A red headed stepchild of actual SX.

Well that was the best $40 I ever spent for a TV package.

Now I know how Bernie Madoffs former clients feel.

I don't think it was ever published, but the teams had to pay a fee in order to join the series. The owner of PRMX told me it was 100k back in 2022. Then you had to show you had the budget to compete at all the rounds.
