The official 2027 rider lineup for the Troy Lee Designs Red Bull Ducati Factory Racing Team in the SuperMotocross (SMX) 'World Championship' Series is currently undergoing a complete overhaul.
In 2026 the inaugural Ducati U.S. roster consisted of Justin Barcia and Dylan Ferrandis, but neither will return to the team for 2027.
Who are they looking at for 2027 ?
Hampshire is one.
RJ Hampshire. Barcia and Ferrandis would’ve done better, had they not been injured. It may not have been the best representation for the bike.
It just amazes me, even though it shouldn't, with how many people can't read other threads or go right to the info page ML has already put out.
RJ and Savatgy.
This is at least the 2nd time this was asked today and was answered a while ago.
Yeah it looks like RJ and Savatgy

Hampshire and Savatgy to Ducati is the word on the streets of Cairo. Ducati is not ready yet to pay the money asked by US riders who are Top 5 potential in 450. I don't see them offer the money a Sexton or Webb would ask.
I’m surprised at Savatgy moving. He was looking good on the QuadLock Honda.
They're a street bike, road racing brand above all, 23 years in MotoGP, 12 world titles, their street bike sales are up there, they have budget and need motogp which is their DNA.
They want to grow in mx/dirt bike but like most European brands, are doing it slowly, they don't like to go crazy in marketing spending until they have ROI. Right now they obviously just want presence and development, they're not yet signing riders for wins, in MXGP or US MX.
Mathes was saying he could be having issues with Yarrive paying, plus the schedule of riding around the world to earn his paycheck, whereas Ducati supposedly offered him $400k to race SMX.
What about Febvre ?
Very good point. Do you think Febvre is more expensive than Sexton or Tomac last year or Webb?
Also I believe Ducati would spend more money in MXGP first, didn't they try to get a big name in MXGP 2-3 yers ago already?
I genuinely hope Savatgy makes the most of this opportunity. I think he’s at a point in his life where he can make that next step above RJ consistently into the top 5 and on the podium later in the series. Has been down and out a few times where he may have the chip on his shoulder necessary to make it happen.
Time will tell. Good luck Joey. Let’s twist those throttle cables loose!!
There’s a ceiling in the 450s - Lawrences Deegan Prado. There’s no one else who’ll be able to crack these. Yet the GPs have a little more breathing room.
and Roczen. He's still got that sprint speed that guys find tricky to deal with,.
Jerry Sriracha will be strong in Supercross.

Febvre has always been (after his 2015 MXGP title) an expensive rider...

They're very lucky to have signed Febvre.
He won the championship last year, he's been 2nd this year, and have you seen him riding this weekend?
So true!
Sad to see they didn’t pick up Kevin Sherman
Ducati Europe also has Louis Vosters who will pay big money out of pocket to get the guy he wants.
Great point.
i don't think Barcia and Ferrandis are better than RJ all things being equal.....RJ can still run in the top 5
The bike seemed competitive in its first season, Barcia missed almost all of SX, but Dylan did manage to be in the top 10 most rounds. In MX Dylan managed a 4th place one round and always seemed to be in the top 10 and finished 7th for the season. Barcia never seemed healthy but seemed to always be around the top 10. And lets not forget Cairoli finished 6th at Spring creek, and he is 40 years old.
I think Ducati is waiting for a top 5 level rider to become available, and then they are going to throw a bunch of money at him, like they do in MotoGP. It would not surprise me to see them go after Jett or Deegan, after all they managed to get Rossi from Yamaha and Marquez from Honda.
Jett has a long tern HRC deal.
Not sure how Ducati management types would enjoy the Deegan travelling circus.
Not to derail the thread, but you have to wonder how Rossi would’ve done had he stayed on Yamaha for those couple of years.
Ducati is for sale. Volkswagen has a 9% profit rule for their conglomerate and Ducati came in at 5.8%.
It will be interesting to see how that affects the off road program. If that's old news, my bad.
Marquez had a long term HRC deal, 10 years ago nobody thought he would ever leave Honda.
I think for Rossi it was more of a business move, the Ducati had not competitive for any rider not named Stoner, I dont think he was expecting to win. But he made a ton of money with Ducati, especially on the merchandise side of things ($150 Ducati/Rossi shirts were selling out). Fast forward to today and Rossi's VR46 team uses Ducati bikes, which they have had good success with, so the relationship with the factory is still good.
