Ironman and Ernee with Red Bud and Matterly sprinkled in seem to be all they want to do for the most part. Hopefully the crooks that run infront look at a map and see there are more than this.

There may be multiple options in the USA but in Europe, its pretty limited because of how big the event is now. Matterley and Ernee can handle it comfortably, but even somewhere like Foxhill is too small for it now. I can see the MXoN being on a bit of a rotation as we've seen in recent years - USA, Ernee, Assen, and Matterley.

I thought I heard Matterley was done as a venue, something to do with the local council.

I'm fine with most options except Ironman, i'm sorry but the track is not that great and it lacks character. Plenty of better tracks in America.

I would love to see MXdN in Canada, Brazil, Argentina or Australia.

Have you ever been to Ironman? It’s a fookin corn field. Same with Spring Creek.

Let's go out on a limb and hold the MXoN in Park City, Utah.

Holding the Motocross des Nations at a major ski resort in Park City, Utah (such as Park City Mountain or Deer Valley) would be a highly creative concept.

Ski resorts have successfully hosted motorcycle events in the past—but converting a premier alpine resort infrastructure would present unique hurdles.

 Why It Could Work,:

Built-In Amphitheater: Lower ski slopes and terrain parks (the "boarding park") naturally offer incredible elevation changes, drops, and steep inclines. This would make for a highly technical, spectacular track with natural viewing angles for spectators.

Massive Infrastructure: Park City's base areas possess the exact type of infrastructure needed for a massive international crowd: large paved parking lots for the team paddocks. Extensive lodging, transport systems, and vendor villages.

Tourism Hub: Park City is highly experienced in hosting massive global events, most notably the 2002 Winter Olympics and the annual Sundance Film Festival.

This, for SMX. (Move final SX to Vegas).

I’d prefer to see MXDN at historic MX tracks. Budds would be fine, Millville, if they can sort the infrastructure, would be preferred.

We need a track built like yesterdays brutally tough track.

Reset Unadilla’s layout to the mid 80’s, till it, plant the wheat, and stay off of it until the event date.  That would be awesome to attend.  Loved how that track developed back then.

I live an hour from Ironman and would waaay rather drive to Red Bud.  The MXoN at Ironman was terrible for viewing.

To properly host a massive international event like the MXdN you don't want to go to Glen Helen or Pala or a cornfield in Indiana. Access and Parking are enough to throw those 2 California locations off the list.

An event at a ski resort in the shoulder season of October would bring energy and thousands of race fans to a place that would reap the benefits of an international broadcast.

Access roads, paved parking, nearby hotels, restaurnts, room for a camping festival atmosphere are all desireable.

Close by airbnbs with free shuttle service and MTN bike trails would be high on the list.

The places that hit that metric are ski resorts.

4 Ski resorts n the US have hostrd  the winter Olympics. The former Squaw Valley in California in the 60s, Lake Placid twice and most recently the winter Olympics in Utah were at Park City Mountain and Deer Valley.

The State of Utah supports the current SMX World Championship so they must have someone who understands the game.

Salt Lake City is only 35 minutes from Park City and has an international airport, car rentals, Buses and lodging capabilities for event overflow

Park City recently lost its long standing Sundance film festival to Boulder, CO and the income that came with it.

The economic impact from a 3 day day international Race in a high-end community like Park City would be north of $70M.

You could build an awesome MX track on the lower ski slopes and include the snowboard terrain. Cover it with geotech sheets, haul in dirt and then scrape to the original surface and the snowboard park is back in business.

Feld and MX Sports recently proved the Concept at the Bass Pro Shops facility in Missouri.

Spectating at a Ski resort would offer more options than the nature reserve and not require the purchase of a chair as at Thunder Ridge.

From a pure “Holy shit, they race here?” standpoint, Mammoth would be insane, but there’s no way it could handle an event that large and the locals already bitch about the one event each year.   Thunder Valley in 2010 was pretty amazing race and there is a very large home field advantage with the altitude.  AMA riders got the mapping down and understand the elevation issues.  Last time, Dungey smoked em all with Shorty and Canard doing very well.  I’m all for a West Coast effort for 2028.  Tops on my list is Glen Helen, then Pala, then Washougal.

I will never forgive Townley for his actions on Short that day.

I hadn't even considered that it would come back to Thunder Valley anytime soon.  That would be awesome!

I was there in 2010 and I would definitely be back in 2028.

Short made up for it with that insane hole shot in the 3rd moto.  He was 3 bike lengths ahead of everyone else by the first corner. Never seen a more dominant start than that.  That was all we needed to bring the cup home.  Epic day and perfect weather all weekend. Not one single cloud in the sky.  That experience changed my life.  Prior to that weekend I liked motocross, but that day I fell in love with it and MXON.  Now it’s central to my life.  If any of you get the chance to go to one here in the US you MUST go. Nothing like it!   The patriotism is second to none.

Seems like Ironman is a lock for 2028 because JT mentioned that 2031 was the wildcard for location on Pulp this week. My wish would be Glen Helen. The world would be the winner with that one.

Because how many Americans would put there hand up to get smoked?
But it should happen. I was there the last time. Great trip

I remember watching it on TV & the place looked packed. The track was deep that weekend.

Curious, why does it seem to just be at the same couple of venues lately?

Italian moto mafia promotions (AKA Luongo family and Co) decided after not making enough money at the 2014 MXdN held in Latvia, all MXdN from that Year onwards must he held on one of these each countries: Italy, France, UK, The Nerherlands or the U.S.A (The most profitable venues).

While It's understandable, its a shame, lot of countries that should host the MXdN, Spain and Portugal have MxdN worthy tracks, South América with Chile, Argentina and Brazil (with huge MX fanbase and infraestructure), a cool man made track in a Resort in South East Asia (Possible to do) or a in Oceanía, but we Will never see It.

I'd love to see a completely new track/venue built somewhere near Bend Oregon or like someone else said the sports happy state of Utah.

We went to the '95 MXdN in Slovakia. What a different world back then.
The race was sponsored by West Cigarettes and Pepsi Max. (Before Red Bull). All the sugar and twice the caffeine as standard Pepsi.

Joel Smets was on the only 4 stroke. There was a 125 2 stroke class. I covered the event for Kat Spann and Tex MX. Davey Coombs was there for Cycle News.

Good time in the former Eastern Block Country.

Slovakia in the 1990s became a major European hub for international motocross, anchored by the iconic hillside circuit named Sverepec.

The former part of the Czech Republic hosted the prestigious 1995 Motocross des Nations (MXdN)
held on September 10, 1995.

It was a landmark moment for Central Europe, bringing the global motocross community to a classic, undulating natural-terrain circuit just a few years after the fall of the Iron Curtain.

A Clash of Titans: The event saw a massive showdown between European Grand Prix heavyweights and Team USA represented by Jeff Emig, Ryan Hughes, and Steve Lamson—who were trying to reclaim dominance after Great Britain snapped their long winning streak in 1994.

Belgium's Victory: Belgium’s powerhouse roster—featuring Stefan Everts, Joel Smets, and Marnicq Bervoets—dominated the steep, technical Slovak dirt to take the overall victory, leaving Team USA in second place and France in third.

Pit Bierer (KTMs current race director) dominated the 2nd Moto for Germany on a Honda.

Broader 1990s Context
GP Circuit Heritage: Sverepec regularly hosted FIM World Championship Grand Prix's throughout the 1990s, establishing Slovakia as a respected stop on the European racing calendar.

The hills at Severpec put Glen Helen to shame.

Organising a normal GP is already trouble enough in itself with all the industry around the track that keeps expanding. Creating space for camping, parking, logistics,... it all gets more and more difficult every year. They already have to work with shuttles to get the crowd from the camping to the track because the distance grows every year. Around 2008-2010 the campsite was just across the street of the maingate.

And the government keeps meddling with the needed permits aswell.

The organising team did some massive work to get a contract until 2031. Hats of to them.

We gotta believe a ski resort would work well. Hotels, restaurants and massive paved parking lots already in place. Create a festival-like camping area in the parking lots and build a track on the lower slopes.

The MXdN is scheduled for the shoulder season for Ski resorts. The Energy and massive crowd & income would be welcomed.

The State of Utah already supports the SMX series. Which might make the Government more amenable.

The only downfall being lack of oxygen at altitude. But with the new bikes all being EFI jetting wouldn't be an issue.

Since we don't race in real sand and they chose Assen, I propose we make an outdoor SX track here for the '28 Nations and we make a condition that everyone meet AMA spec on their bikes for non-Europe MXDNs. Seems reasonable.

Relax, it's just the internet.
