We know that 2028 MXON will be in the USA. I’m hoping they keep tradition and announce tomorrow. I’m hoping it isn’t returning to Ironman or Red Bud. I understood the repeat at a Red Bud as a make good for the mudfest in 2018. Ironman was great for the parade downtown but the rest wasn’t spectacular enough to return again so soon. It would be the first one I skip if it goes back to either of those two tracks.
I’m really hoping for Millville to get it. I’d settle for a return to Budds Creek or Thunder Valley. Any other tracks even being considered? Where do you guys want to see it go?
It’s Ironman. I’d love to see Millville too.
Has that been announced and I missed it? Bummer if true.
Well according to JT$ this past week, Branson is the greatest venue the sport has to offer so surely it’s a no brainer to have the MXoN there, right?
Personally I don’t see Ironman making all those changes to the track/facility unless they were guaranteed at least a couple events. I will continue to pray to the moto gods that it does end up Millville at some point in my lifetime, though! Glen Helen would be pretty awesome as well.
Glen Helen is probably due for an MXDN, and worthy of it in every aspect.

In the U.S.; Red Bud, Millville, Unadilla are perfect choices but I live on the East Coast so I am biased.
The last Red Bud MXdN was an incredible experience
Would be great to see this at Unadilla.
So will the FIM federation pay every rider $100,000 who attends next year?
I am sure Branson was awesome for an SMX race but IMO you cannot host a MXdN and hold it at a temporary man made track.
I believe it’ll be Ironman again. The only other venue I’ve heard interest from and some connection to the event as of recent is Millville.
So is the damage done, could Unadilla be restored to its former NATURAL glory?
No, only to social media influencers who show off 8 million dollar “Compounds”, $500,000 watches, and a Ferrari in Tik-Tok videos filmed a small town in rural Florida.
No Red Bud?
That’s a shame. They did such an amazing job last time.,
Yeah he was way off. Branson looked cool and I get the hype from people who watched on TV but I won’t go back next year. Even if they figure out a better parking system, add more restrooms and food vendors…the hillside took a couple of days to recover from.
I’ve heard a lot of assumptions of returning to Ironman but I’m hoping those are just based on Red Bud getting two in a row (which was a different situation). Ironman had to have made all their money back in improvements last year and then some.
The parade downtown was really cool and the toilets were clean. That doesn’t wash out the terrible spectator experience. Sight lines weren’t good, getting from one spot to another was not setup well, nowhere near enough food and beer vendors. It just wasn’t a well run race for that size crowd and doesn’t need to return so soon.
I don’t think they can.
Back then the track was only used for the 250 USGP (MX2 now) in the summer and a TRANS-USA race in the fall. It had time to basically grow into a hay field before practice.
Now it’s used for local races, Loretta qualifiers, vintage races, etc.
Source?
Ironman and Ernee with Red Bud and Matterly sprinkled in seem to be all they want to do for the most part. Hopefully the crooks that run infront look at a map and see there are more than this.
You forgot everyone’s favorite, Assen. 2019 & 2027
Pit Row
Millville would be rad. Hard to believe the recent facility changes aren't being done in a bid to get this event soon.
Wait till you hear where it is next year
Was hoping for Millville but Ironman is super close for me, I’ll be there no matter the location.
Obviously wish it could be Washougal, but getting all of the GP rider stuff to a west coast city that isn’t between SF and San Diego might not be as enticing for the teams.
Washougal would be a dream! However, they would have to shuttle tens of thousands of people in though. That place is a nightmare on a normal pro race. I can’t imagine 2-3x trying to get in/out.
I’m not against it though. If they could figure that part out it would be amazing. It’s not impossible. Bigger problems have been solved.
America?
Assen- a "temporary man made track"...
Curious, why does it seem to just be at the same couple of venues lately?
The repeat thing is relatively new (aside from Matterly Basin and Ernee). I totally get Red Bud getting a repeat because 2018 was a shit show and was on the brink of being cancelled.
2027: Assen - Netherlands
2026: Ernee - France
2025: Ironman - USA
2024: Matterly Basin - UK
2023: Ernee - France
2022: Red Bud - USA
2021: Mantova - Italy
2020: Cancelled (Ernee)
2019: Assen - Netherlands
2018: Red Bud - USA
2017: Matterly Basin - UK
2016: Maggoria - Italy
2015: Ernee - France
2014: Kegums - Latvia
2013: Teutschenthal - Germany
2012: Lommel - Belgium
2011: St Jean d’Angely - France
2010: Thunder Valley - USA
2009: Franciacorta - Italy
2008: Donington Park - UK
2007: Budds Creek - USA
2006: Matterly Basin - UK
2005: Ernee - France
Germany is definitely due for a race. Also keep in mind USA didn’t have a race for 20 years prior to the 2007 race at Budds Creek. I love Dutch people and the Netherlands, but Assen getting 2 of 8 races at a man made track with no real history is criminal.
My guess is InFront just goes to the promoter that can pay them the most. It’s like trying to play poker with your friend who has way more money than you. He will just keep buying back in until you’re finally broke. The promoter who held the last MXdN happens to be the one with the most money to throw at it again.
Edit to add: Youthstream transitioned to InFront in 2020.
I should also add the future rounds with unknown locations.
2031: USA
2030: Australia
2029: France
2028: USA
I say this as an American, I don’t think that USA and France should get one every 3 years. Especially if they are going to the same tracks. Maybe a 4 year continental based rotation (North America, Europe, Non EU or NA, Europe). Other countries should be showcased instead of going to the same places year after year. Racing in Europe every two years is fine as long as it isn’t a Ernee/Matterly only thing.
Mars. There's a lot interest in Mars. The layout is very similar to a lot of the GP tracks they are purpose building these days so I hear it's getting a lot consideration. Elon is also onboard
There is a massive financial requirement for the promoter which has seemingly been limiting the options. Sure would be nice if in front backed by someone like monster would take some burden off the promoters and truly showcase the best riders on the best tracks. Millville, Unadilla, Trentino or lesser known tracks in places like NZ, CAN, Japan, etc could be given a chance.
