Do Dylan and Eli deserve a better send off?

You are and it's too late anyway. Maybe Feld will do something for them at A1 but I can see Eli not even wanting to participate.

You are thinking way to much into it about yourself.

If either of them wanted the big send off they would have gotten it.

We as fans have no say in what any legend wants to do for their exit. It's their career, let them go out they way that they feel is both appropriate, and more importantly the most comfortable for them.

But that's why we are fans (aka short for fanatics). We want to have that big send off for our legends and heros even if that's the last thing two fairly private guys would want.

I'd say if they wanted it, Feld would give them a minute in the spotlight during A1 opening ceremonies to do a parade lap. I'm sure its mostly up to them though.

They’ll probably do a press conference for them if they want like they have with other notable riders retiring. 

JT says he has a whole Tomac career segment he’s doing.

Seems fitting to who they are. Chill/laidback guys, DGAF about social media, neither are the "look at me" type. 

Gave it everything they had, called it a career, and walking away healthy on their own terms. Can't ask for much more than that. 

Eli and Dylan are greats...I greatly admire each.

But they are not the types who want to/NEED to bask in fan adulation .

I’m honestly impressed we even got this much notice and got to see him race after the announcement. 

I know Eli is a private person, but I hope we see him again after retirement. 

seems fitting that i first saw Eli and Dylan ride at the world juniors in Taupo NZ in 2009,  Eli won the 250's and Dylan had the 85 class smoked until he broke his collarbone in teh warm up sunday, 

I could see Eli racing a Daytona or something for fun. I dont think Eli really cares about a send off. I dont really think Dylan would either.

No way Eli gives a shit about a send off, he will finish his contract, delete all social media and retreat to the mountains.

Glenn Coldenhoff was racing that weekend too finishing 5th on the 250. Also retiring this year. 

If they wanted a send off at the final outdoor round they would have announced their respective retirements in time for it.

Do they deserve one? Absolutely

But as others have said they probably don't care

No doubt there is going to be another excruciating two hour prerace show this Saturday, where that will be the main topic.

better send off than Dungey, Villipoto, Osborne ,or Stewart.

I think the riders can pretty much set the tone.

Reed got his farewell tour.

RC set his agenda and stuck to it, even though he could have easily won another title by competing in a few more rounds.

Maybe individual riders should fade away quietly if that is their preference.

No. I am now was (since he is retiring) a Tomac fan but he has decided to walk away and not do a farewell tour and do select rounds so there is no need to give him a proper send off. Same for Dylan.

Ain’t that the truth, I remember as a kid having to wait for motoworld with Dave Despain to get any sort of race highlights, which even then was an upgrade over the older generation that had to rely on cycle news, or magazines.

I'm not convinced we've seen the absolute last of either guy in Professional competition. 

Time and time again we see guys tempted back - be it change of heart, chance for a one-off, or an opportunity too good to pass up. 

Off the top of my head (Dungey, McGrath, Villopoto, Cairoli, Windham, Pastrana, Henry...it's almost more common than it's not)

But it is the end of an era for them and they both deserve every accolade possible. 

I wonder if the season didn’t have the 3 SMX events, riders tired out from the season would have time to rest physically and mentally, and maybe reconsider retirement … 

It’s just how people are on here more, Feld/NBC are giving people extra content to watch if they wish, and these people moan as if they are getting acid poured in their eyes. 

I think the send off is fine. Sucked Reed had to do it with no fans. At least these guys will get the respect they deserve. 

Any chance eli starts racing mountain bike for fun, I just dont see staying off 2 wheels

I know Eli has talked about doing some off road racing (ngpc and enduro) more than the mountain bike side, but someone ran into Johnny T and another rider testing out a Tomac branded downhill bike with a gearbox and belt drive out at Purgatory bike park (Durango). Could be an interesting thing to keep an eye on...
