I’ll withhold too much judgement on these stadiums until next week. Racing in eastern US this time of year would be indoors ideally. 

IMO make SMX one race. Have a high payout like monster cup, forget about prior points in sx and mx, and keep the hybrid track idea but make it an actual hybrid track. Maybe do triple crown format instead of 2 motos. 

50 minutes of racing in a 3 hour broadcast does not feel good.

SMX Playoff round 1 was an ugly sight to see. Kind of like an NFL playoff game in the snow where all the best players struggle to perform anywhere near their potential.

We had a Mud race in SX and  mud race in MX and this will be the mud race for SMX. 

It's a multi-discipline sport. 

Next week it will be dry and hard as a rock. So relax

Days like today is when I miss 2 strokes in pro racing.   The bikes not lasting wouldn't be as much of an excuse to cut the laps.

Make it 6 30 minute motos with 30 minutes in between. 

12 minute motos and they show footage of the last outdoors over the race. 

The series schedule and the race today felt like a weird sideshow afterthought.  

Didn’t watch, didn’t miss it. I can’t seem to get into the SMX gimmick the last few years. I’m just old I guess. I know I should be thankful for more racing but I sort of feel like it’s too much and too long of a season to keep tuning in for 3/4 hours of the same shit. Enjoyed the day on the boat cause those days are winding down in the northeast, and getting some seat time myself tomorrow. I’ll catch the MXDN for sure though!

Big picture trend is what bothers me.  We went from The Mercedes Benz Dome at night on Big Fox, to half ass bench seat Div 2 college stadiums at 1pm for either a baked dust bowl, or a slop mudder.  

Yesterday during press when it was dry I timed Haiden and Hunter's fast laps, they were coming out to about 55's. Show me an arenacross track with a 55 second lap time... I don't mind that we had a mudder. We haven't had much by way of the elements this year, we were due for one. Funny that both races in Ohio this year got pissed on 

I’ve said it since SMX began. These have all been basically SX tracks. They need to include 1 or 2 of the venues being at a MX facility like Pala or GH where they have a supercross track on site too. Then make a creative way to connect them. 

This latest venue had I seen like 12k fans. MXGP races have like 40k at many of them. We can do better.

I thought it was a good race with a lot of battles.  I don't understand why people are complaining.

Unpopular opinion: scrap the playoffs. The riders seem burned out. Put the hybrid tracks in the supercross series. 

In my opinion you will never have a hybrid track in a stadium like that. I sure hope the next smx races are something a bit different, 

It was a natural rutted track because of rain, not some overwatered, over-ripped rut-o-cross like Ironman was.  I’ve ridden Ironman a few years ago and it was a blast, but it looks like no fun in its current form.
