i don't think this place is that bad honestly. yes, there's two or three agents provocateur, but its far more mature that most of reddit. and it's less boring than facebook groups. i know i've probably earned some enemies myself, but if you haven't in good faith earned a few, you probably have nothing to say of substance.

@BuddyCantCatchGO4T had an excellent post above about nuance, and that is totally true. you can have a post with 5 things and if someone agrees with 4 and disagrees with 1, you're still getting downvoted. that is, it seems like people look for reasons to find animus rather than reasons to find common ground, but i think that's just the general direction of society as the culture war progresses, people atomize, and social media continues to further condition the emotional reaction at the expense of the rational response.

anyway, it's been sad to see fb groups and subreddits displace all the forums i grew up with as everyone self segregates to find the comfiest echo chamber possible. but hey, if an anodyne facebook group is more your speed, more power to you.

There certainly seems to be a number of people on the site who cannot respond to anything without name-calling, it's bizarre. And another creepy category of members are the ones who seem to have notecards in their or their parent's basement cataloging everything about every other anonymous member on the site, from their previous posts, kid's names, jobs, to bikes they ride, and applying this information to the most obscure of and non-applicable topics you may be involved in, it's got a stalking vibe to it. I still enjoy conversations about the races, racers, and various opinions very much, I would never consider abandoning the forum or announcing I am, but I am certainly more careful and cautious about what I say. Just like the rest of the world, there are some weirdos out there. This whole gaped mouth, gasping, bubble snot sobbing, screaming fit, I will die on this hill, hate/love thing over Deegan has gotten weird too. Jees people he is just a dirt bike racer.

Must be a subconscious thing because the problem with this site is all over this thread, acting like it isn't the problem.

Comparing this forum to reddit is pretty useless. Reddit has 130 million DAILY users. Not sure of the metrics here but the daily unique users in this forum probably number a few thousand? Just saying what you are seeing in your specific subredits is not representative of the user base of the largest forum platform to ever exist.

Facebook is a cesspool and mostly overrun with Ai bot pages, most of which are translated from a foreign language. Most of the "moto" pages on there are just blatant engagement bait to get people to argue in the comments, which happens because its the lowest IQ user base by far. If they instituted a 5 question test at a second grade level to be able to login to facebook it would eliminate 60% of the user base, probably 85% in the moto specific "fanbase".

In general, I agree with your sentiment though. Alot of the people that post here have been around a long time. I do think this place has gone downhill with the influx of trolls and people who seemingly started watching the sport in 2020. Every thread getting derailed by some political bullshit or someone with a clear bias intention is hard to make it super enjoyable anymore.

Dude, you post here under a name, the same name you always post with.  You also have posted ALL of that information and get this, people actually remember what you posted, often better than you even remember yourself.  Why is that so hard to understand?

Well if we're going to erase "unfortunate history" I don't want to hear about reparations again either.

We could raise that in a few hours. You need to set your quitting price higher.  Mine is $1000.

I'm just saying I prefer the forum format to Reddit. But also when one group of people doesn't like a other group within a respective subreddit they just go create a new subreddit. Conditions a lack of conflict resolution skills and creates echo chambers and circle jerks (they even have circlejerk subs making fun of this phenomenon for most hobbies).

It is literally an imaginary or make believe name. Anyone of any of the posters has no reason to post anything factual about themselves, it is anonymous. Keeping accurate track of posts and stats of make believe anonymous people seems strange to me, dude.

'Spoonguy' is not an anonymous name.  That is your username on here, whether you think it is or not.  Just like my name is disbanded, and all the other guys on here have names too.  Do you not recognize the people on this website that the majority want gone or moderated?  You don't recognize usernames here at all?  That's one of the weirdest things I've ever heard, honestly.  A very strange reality you must live in.

Honestly I don't look at the user names, typically when people do things anonymously they do so to hide identity and contain privacy, like alcoholic anonymous. I assume this is likewise otherwise people would list their proper names. None the less, I think it is creepy people keeping track of complete strangers posts, I am not mentioning recognizing, but tracking. I had a guy on here once tell me the bikes he thought I owned, I really do not mention that fact that often, I think that is creepy. You may not, everyone is entitled to an opinion friend.

Ok I guess, but to be fair you have posted over 3600 times in 4 years.  I would venture to say that is more than most people on here post.

I'm not quite at the point Hammer is to where I feel like leaving,  but I am very seriously considering blocking several members as a trial to see if it improves the experience here.

It is extremely annoying when the vitard morans bring unrelated subjects into a good discussion and start bashing like elementary school kids on the playground.

I do not understand how anyone who rides a mx/dirt bike could be a liberal and/or a democrat; they are both anti-off-road and anti-2-stroke and now anti-dirt bikes in general. Maybe one day they will see the light.
