I don't know how Dazzy manages the two brothers. I am not a dad yet. How the hell do you coach/ manage, say, etc the lawrence brothers this week? or even this past summer? What would a dad like that do to be so even keeled and I would guess stay middle of the road? Do you just step away and keep your lips closed?
One thing i would like to emphasise is culture. Australia is different to USandA. Sport is important to grow social skills and discipline but family is first. Itll be fine and ill still be at Bunnings after the race to get a snag and another fucking indoor plant for the misso.
The one thing I've noticed he seems to be pretty reliable with, is a healthy dose of perspective. Racing is always important, but not AS important as.. *fill in the blank*. He mostly seems like his message is to always be accountable to yourself, put in the work, ride with purpose and let the chips fall as they may. You have to think too, Honda is going to win a championship either way, so the main objective is already complete, they just have to find out whos name to put on the trophy. The best part for their family, is that the last name is already engraved.
No matter who wins, we win. Seems like they have always focused on the success of the family rather than pitting one against the other to motivate.
All I know is that they are making the best of the fantastically good fortune they've been given. Not to say they haven' worked for it because they certainly have. Good on 'em. Makes me smile.

First, I would ask people to please stop calling me Dazzy. Then, I would probably handle this week just like every other week my sons race each other except there would be less stress knowing one of them is going to win a championship.
win win situation for the family, good problems to have. Going to be a great race next weekend
More of a reminder than advice. What a beautiful problem to have,2 brothers beating the best in world at the highest levels(crazy rarity). One of you is going to win the championship and everyone else is already out of the equation.Worst you get is 2nd and at this point it may just be an issue of who gets a little luck(a lot of variables can tip the odds for and against you in a 1 race winner take all).I guess all you could say is both you greats go ride your hearts out and lets see who was best on this day with one of you getting the championship. They already know they both cant win but you have to be so grateful its one of you.
Sits them down and tells them that Hunter gets this championship because Jett already had one. Sharing and taking turns are critical values parents need to teach their children.
He smiles with pride ......again. The work ethic he and his wife instilled in all 3 boys, the values they all share, and the years of sacrifice the entire family made, has once again proven to be damn near unbeatable by anyone on the planet. I'd like to think he feels pretty happy when looking at the big picture in all this.
you tell them to get out there, give it 100%, race one another clean and HARD...and that you love 'em both no matter what. Then you crack a beer in the team rig with your multi-millionaire kids + family and thank God for the blessings. Thanks for coming to my TedTalk.
Right!? That could only mean bigger bucks for Hunter when he negotiates his contract in the future whenever that is. That's some good chess right there making even more money for the family evenly.
Correct, and this aint the first time.
You think Hunter would be remotely OK with that?
"OK son, Jett's going to let you have this one".
No freaking way!
I hope you realise that post was fully facetious.
I would be at a fertility clinic trying to knock up my chick with triplet boys!
You tell your boys "You guys did it!" 1,2 in the championship and no doubt you two are the fastest riders out there." Way to bring in a hell of a win for team Lawrence. You guys have already won."
Id tell them the loser buys the beers.
Pit Row
It’s an Australian thing. I know a few Darren’s and they all get called Dazz or some variation on it.
From what I’ve seen his work as a dad is already done. This is probably a scenario they never envisaged but it seems like they’ve already got the right perspective and skills to handle it like any other situation.
Externally, he's definitely sharing all the kumbaya stuff everyone posted already. But deep down, I'd be willing to bet he's hoping Hunta can win this thing and get at least one premier championship over his other alien offspring.
If Jett takes it, you have never seen, nor will ever see, someone less excited about winning a championship.
If Hunter wins, it's been a long road and he deserves it.
If Jett wins, it's a helluva comeback.
Dazzy hopefully is just advising them to ride and ride clean.
We can all be thankful it won't be the insufferable Deegs.
What a position to be in!
As someone above said: “They have already won”, and come second.
Has to be a marketing dream for HRC!
(Both beating Deegan before the gate drops - more than 50 points behind. Maybe more time practicing and less time on the trash talk and offensive T shirts.)
all you need to know about their family dynamic is that the first thing Jett asked, before he even took his helmet off after the second moto at unadilla, was if hunter was ok. Not what place he got.
All you need to know about hunter is that deep down, I suspect he would rather get second than to have it handed to him. The level of maturity to stay on the stadium floor and celebrate with kenny was astounding, and demonstrates, title or not, he is a true champion.
Nothing. I’m “dazzy” and I’m the dad of two adult male children and so that’s that.
…then you have a talk with Jett and remind him that his brother needs this championship.
That's the advice of someone who thinks they are doing the right thing but actually doing absolutely the wrong thing.
I would be telling the boys that THEY already won the outdoor series. Go have fun this weekend and see who comes out on top but don’t put anything on the line or take any big risks. The next challenge is the 3 race series that pays big money. Keep your focus on being healthy for that 3 race payday to wrap up an amazing year.
As a new dad, I respect the hell of Dazzy & how he has raised his boys.
