Then boxing went Pay Per View, and the last well known boxer of the beginning of Pay Per View era is probably Iron Mike Tyson.  That's been decades ago.

95% of the population now couldn't name a current boxer in any weight class, much less the title (belt) holders of the classes.

Thats what happens when you take a sport for the masses and whittle it down to a niche group of fans. Boxing lost 95% of a casual fan base that knew of the sport, what the sport was about, where certain fights take place and are coming up, to literally Zilch. The nobody cares scale!

 

Now moto was never there, but for the 50-60% more people whois  did tune in to races for free on network or cable tv, those folks exited long ago like boxing. What is left is our small community who does care enough to purchase streaming networks subscriptions to watch racing. But with everything getting zapped from our pocket books now, an economy that leaves little extra, and certainly the bad taste in our mouths from Flo the last go around, this is enough for many of us.  I know I'm not taking on another subscription service, and certainly not Flo. 

So good luck, good riddance, and do what you can to not just survive, but thrive.

And that means, quit giving everyone else your hard earned dollars.

ABC would do a follow up on the fights but could only show photographs of the action on TV and no replays so they would interview the fighters like a week after the fight. What killed boxing was the emergence of MMA (also on pay per view) so the analogy you are using with boxing is not correct....

And after a week, all of the motos will be archived and available to watch for free on RacerTV.com and YouTube.
