I listened to countless podcasts this week, as usual, and as usual nobody picked Deegan to win. As mentioned above, many said they felt it was his best chance.
I think they said the percentage pie, in their opinion, went up from a 10% chance to maybe 12 or 15%?
You either have a listening problem or a reading comprehension problem because nobody in the media said or wrote either of those....

The media certainly has a lot to "blame" for the hype but its understood. Its just entertainment at the end of the day.
At this point, based on the post race press conference, even the brothers are throwing shade at the Media and Deegan now, which is fair play.
It is a tough spot for Deegan. He verbalizes he isn't fast enough. The comments rip apart his comments on how close he thinks he is to their opinion, which is all valid but as a rider, he asked for the smoke and is getting it. Time will tell if he enjoys it as much as he says.
I personally think he is playing it smart not throwing it away as he understands his 110% isn't enough to beat them and the best thing he can do is stay injury free for as long as possible and get seat time.

The anti deegan crowd likes to insert an alternate reality every week. They'll come on here and argue deegan narratives that dont even exhist. They like to talk about board meeting between him and his dad about what he should say and do from week to week. They really hate self confidence, my guess is they're extremely jealous of anyone who views themselves in a positive way.
I juat know what I see, and when the Aussie broke are on it, they are dropping everyone.

He actually got beat possibly his worst all year and this was at the track everyone said was his best shot at a moto win. 1st moto the leaders had a 40 second gap on 3rd and when deegs got into 4th the gap widened even more over 15 more seconds over the last half of the race. Then moto 2 they had a big gap on deegs, jett goes down, then gathers himself for a couple laps, then puts a 15 second gap on deegs in 2 laps and catches hunter. Absolutely crazy the pace of those 2.
He's made some marginal improvements but like his riding style its all bark and no bite. Hitting the rev limiter over jumps to fool himself into thinking he's running 2-3 seconds lower lap times for example.
If he ever figures out how to change up his style he'll make improvements. Nobody is "bulldogging" a 450 and gaining 4-5 seconds a lap. It works the other way.. he'll figure it out or he won't.
Will be interesting to see.
I always though Haiden was a mix of Web and Tomac in their style. Web to me is the best example of superior mindset overcoming lack of talent.
Raw talent, he is up there but never had that "natural' flow many seem to appreciate like the Lawrences, Chase and Davies have. But his best asset I think is his mental space.
Throughout his 250 career, while he has qualified 1st many times, he never would just throw down heaters so far ahead of everyone like you tend to see with some of the others.
I do think there is a place for him on the 450s to not only win, but be a champion, but its going to be a matter of if he can keep his head right and outwork everyone if its even possible. Might never happen, but I dont think it will be for a lack of effort.
They might not have said "Deegan will win", but they sure were glazing him. BTW, they actually waited 6 1/2 minutes into the first Moto before they showed "Points as they run"! that's a record. And I'm happy Weege gave up on "Points paying position" after 10 minutes.

I'm on the record that I don't care for 38's schtick, the mouthing off and past antics on the track. I don't mind watching him lose after all that. But putting aside the noise - from him and from the back and forth here - and just watching what's going on during motos, he's undeniably racing his ass off and but for the two Lawrences is by far the fastest other guy on the track outdoors. If anyone wants to see someone else mixing it up with the brothers there is no other prospect right now, at least until next year when Coenen comes in.

Just curious, why do you think it's "hateful" to criticize a rider who boasted of beating Jett easily at the start of the season and has not beaten Jett or Hunter cleanly all season and continues to finish 10+ seconds behind the leader in every moto?

Yea he wore a shirt he didnt make. And? He did plenty of interviews and stated his goals and not once said he was going to easily beat them.
In hindsight the shirt was top tier trolling because it gets mentioned every week and will continue to get mentioned.
I'm pretty sure that the 'Deegan team' thought that he would regularly be battling for the win, as he was the KING in the 250s... now, I think the Lawrences has raised their game this year, but I'm guessing with big confidence that the Deegans are a bit surprised that he isn't on the podium every moto and battling for the win... we are all surprised.
... but, hey, Deegas is really really really f*ckin good! Sh*t, no one else has anything for him (which is a bit embarrassing for Prado), so Deegan can be proud of his achievement but the prediction that Jett would be his b*tch was wrong... it's the other way around and there is absolutely nothing changing that...
