looks to me like some AMA professionals ain't too bright.....good boyz, but not much smarts
Or they just aren't experienced with tax forms and banking....which does not make them "not bright".
it's a presumption, not an assumption. and i was rebutting your argument as to the relevance of his vocation, not his direct propensity to submit paperwork on behalf of his son.
that said, i'm going to PRESUME that there is some truth to Uptite's claims, even if they are potentially mixed with falsehoods or exaggerations, there's likely something there. Therefore, I don't consider the matter closed, and I think there is a decent chance Keefer was asked to fall on his sword. Maybe not by a preponderance, but a chance nonetheless.
Further, I think there was a chance he knew it was an MX Sports matter from the beginning, but fingered the AMA instead out of a reticence to besmirch his employer.
Good lord man. They came back and explained the whole process, confirmed the shortfalls created by riders not providing the information, and even posted the contact information for any rider who has questions or needs help with the process. The fact you are still holding onto this is beyond ridiculous to the point you must be trolling to get responses. Be careful for lightning with that hat on.

So I called it, although I did misrepresent the form name, so all I got was down voted. Confirmation bias anyone?
DC didn't address the aforementioned claim that riders must necessarily have paperwork on file to lineup. seems a pretty dispositive and easily & objectively addressable thing. moreover, he chose not to consult his own Accounts Payable nor the employee responsible for them. Not fatal, but seems odd.
Why does He need to address accounting? 95% of the riders had the process right and he explicitly showed the others in question did not do it right. This is not that hard to comprehend. You said you are affiliated with MTB Teams. How many kids on your team don't follow what seems to be the simplest direction like signing waivers, replying with availability, or even showing up on time?? I guess that is the coach's fault?
My Point is paperwork must be filed and filled in correctly with the proper authorities.
Another point you guys may not be aware of is Pro racers are now incorporating their racing as a business LLC. Creating a LLC takes months with attorneys filling paperwork to the Secretary of State and being approved so then different paperwork must then be refiled with MXSports.
Thank you DC taking the necessary time to do proper research and clarifying this accurately.
really?.....come on man!
Huh? I don't know about YOUR state but in many creating a LLC involves a few hours of paperwork, a modest fee, possibly a notary's signature, and wait a few days.
Mine took 3 months from account filing it and the secretary of state to finalize it.
Sounds painful. Most people incorporate in Delaware, that's probably the way to do it.
Maybe it takes months to file an LLC in your state. In Oklahoma it’s a week or 2 and your CPA can do it instead of an attorney, and get you an ein number rather quickly.
I corrected it the 2nd time it was my account
Some real Queefer lovers on here...
It's not DC's fault the Queefers are so dumb...
So what does Adens timeline of futures, pro, non qualifying, qualifying with random screenshot have to do with your point of him not filling out paperwork correctly?
You left your post very opened ended.
Not to talk from the dark corners of the internet, but DC is like a lot of the media when he cannot waste an opportunity to disparage, insult, or condescend to the fans. How about instead of "dark corners" it can be stated "concerned fans" or "fans concerned for the riders", which it is. And whether DC is bullshitting us, or Uptite is, it really doesn't matter. Until this matter was made public and the "dark corners" erupted it was unresolved. Interestingly enough when it was made public a resolution not coming in 7 weeks suddenly appeared. I found the quote "almost every rider has been paid like usual" interesting - almost? As well as the paying 80 riders every two weeks statement, as if paying 80 people is some sort of herculean task and something to boast about or it is charity rather than money earned. I would be certain there are plenty of people on this very forum who manage to pay at least 80 people a week successfully, not almost all their people paid, but all their people paid. The statement from DC was probably written by his sister the lawyer anyway, if not gone over. I also found it odd the Keefers did not talk to MX Sports about this in seven weeks, isn't DC MX Sports? Isn't he old man Keefer's boss? After all the years of running the nationals you would think there would be a more fool proof way to pay people making the show.
Pit Row
This place is getting dumber, I swear.
"I'm not a conspiracy theorist, I just cling onto exact words that were spoken off hand, ignored the clarification later, refused to accept that the cause could simply be a small mistake by a few people, but rather a large corporate fraud scheme run by an evil mastermind out to get us normal folk! Why are my concerns not being taken seriously?!"
"The piling on began, especially from the dark corners of the internet & message forums!"
Wow!! That tells us where we on a message forum rate with DC and MX Sports Pro Racing. We rate right at the BOTTOM with the "dark corners of the internet"
Here's to a the good friends and acquaintances like ourselves, lurking around the "dark corners of the internet" You Message Board Freaks!
I bet this place gets more traffic than racerx site.
Yeah I pay over 300 people every two weeks and it never fails that there is always multiple people that don't get paid and typically its because they were a new hire that either transposed some numbers on their application or put the wrong checking information on their direct deposit authorization form...so yes it happens.... and then every single year I have between 25-50 current or former employees that have left during the year that their W-2's and 1099's get returned because of wrong addresses or they lost it and need a replacement (those cost $25 a piece).....so yeah when all the piling on by all the "Dark Corner" boys in here I knew which way this was going to go. I get it that many on here hate DC/MXSports and want to jump on every conspiracy against him but in this case he has every right to take the opportunity to call them out because at the end of the day they were attacking him and MXSports for no reason other than what they had made up in their narrow minds....Maybe next time have a little patience and hold off on the pitchforks until you get all the facts...Yeah I know that's too much to ask of this place....
Had an LLC in TX for years. Took a couple hours to do the paperwork on my own. Then a couple weeks to get the needed documents back from the state. That was it.
South Carolina must be filled with red tape to involve attorneys (multiple) and months of paperwork! wow!
The problem with episodes like this is that people just back fill a new event into their existing biases and use the event to feed arguments where everyone is either an angel or a demon.
From the same 20 people maybe.
In Texas these days it is 24-48 hours from filing the Certificate of Formation to getting an EIN from the IRS.
Who cares if it takes 2 hours or 2 months? It's the riders responsibility to provide the information needed for the ACH payment.
Insufferable.
Out here in the real world these type of issues are common. Issues come up, issues are addressed, issues are resolved, and on to the next thing. Nobody is trying to pocket this kid's purse money.
And before you remind us for the 1000th time you used to own a business, I don't care.
Agreed. And the "foolproof" way to pay people is a routing and account # along with a W9. Not that hard. DC cannot make these guys turn in the right information.
I really don't blame industry people for not posting on here and calling this place some unflattering names. It's filled with people that are assholes to them. They come on here and tell You what happened. Give the truth everybody asks for. And then get torn up and insulted by the people who didn't like the truth, or just don't want to believe the truth is often simple, or messy. I'm sure there are some who may have bent the truth here and there, that is the nature of humans. And is more likely the more people are involved. But for the most part, the more well known people who have posted here are likely not pedaling the lies they get accused of.
I've helped a bunch of local pros with getting to races and filling out the paperwork. It is very common for them to not do any of that themselves. Most are really fast locally and have a bunch of people around them wanting to help. Most are also not super organized and have little idea what paperwork is needed. I used to handle one of my buddies paperwork and lic applications. I photoshopped stuff onto his headshot every year, hoping he would get a good start and be on TV and his headshot would expose my handiwork when it was enlarged on the bigger TV screens. I gave him earrings one year, a rainbow on his lips was another. He was always pranking me so it was mutual and I told him years later after he stopped racing.
I would bet that Keefers Mom was the one filling out all of his paperwork. If he's anything like most of the local pros I have known. A mistake on that form would be the same as them not having one. And having experience with riders on Ayden's level and a bit slower or faster it would have been a bigger surprise to me if he had everything done right.
It sounds like it was not as significant to him as it was to many posters on here. I say this based off the lack of effort to find out the reason for not being paid yet. When I send somebody a bill, and they are expected to pay by a certain time. I contact somebody to find out what the problem is. And If I happen to run into somebody who works for the company I billed that is in some sort of management position, I'm sure going to ask them who I should talk to about an invoice being paid, especially if I should have been paid 4 to 5 weeks ago. So the lack of looking into why he wasn't paid yet just sounds like it wasn't a big deal. And that it was just something to talk about on their podcast. Keefer or his Mom, could have asked one of the many MX sports people they run into who to talk to about being paid. And I doubt it would have been a big mystery.
I think it's strange that big Keefer never said anything to DC or somebody at MX sports about it . But he did think it was the AMA ,Maybe from his old racing days? It is strange that he didn't know it was MX sports. But really, it sounds like it would be a bad lie. One that wouldn't make sense to tell if it wasn't the truth. If You're going to lie about something like that, when You are in the media and very knowledgeable about the sport, that would sound like total BS. So why go with that story if it's not the truth? Unless it's all a bigger conspiracy than just a couple riders not getting paid I think it is the truth.
