Yeah, I don't know, seems like that last 10 has had some come from behind rides that wouldn't have happened in 20.
Fitness comes in to play, along with bike reliability. This is crazy talk.
Does anyone not like the triple crowns? Make it three shorter races. Everyone wins. I have been around the sport a long time and now find all my friends and colleagues are done with watching racing on tv after supercross concludes. Motocross is the best it has ever been since mx sports is in charge, but as far as gaining TV viewers, we can all agree it’s too long. Amazon ruined everything. They will figure it out. They are always moving forward boldly.
Triple crowns are cool because the standard sx format is trash.
Standard moto format is fine. Don’t fuck this up.
If NBC wants to cut down the moto length, just do that via delay and show on NBC broadcast for the casual/non fan.
Keep the full length and stream live on Peacock for us fans.

As a huge RC fan, I have to say I have been super disappointed in his outlook and his persona over these last few years. The podcast with Chad was terrible, like brutal-couldn't suck up to Reed enough. And now this? Come on fuck, have a spine and stand up for your sport, the history and tradition of the sport, for the demand and the challenge of winning a moto over 30+2. Never mind 2 motos. For a guy that built his reputation on being a complete bad ass he now represents a potential pussification of the sport that made him rich in large part because he beat everyone else into the ground. As others have said, golf for 5 hours...tell Wimbledon to do away with 5 hour marathon final matches....I mean fuck me. Show the 2nd motos on NBC and leave the rest to the stream so we can maintain the integrity of the sport. My interest will immediately go away. This rationale to fit this into a TV window is horseshit-they are not asking other sports to fuck themselves over and reduce their sport to the lowest common denominator. Maybe the Deegans are behind it......
I'm astonished how this is even an issue it's a streaming app you have repalys I've been watching One Moto each night for the second time! And there's plenty of content out there you have highlights for The Tick Tock generation that can't get off their phones for 5 minutes! Yeah let's just shorten a marathon because it's too boring to watch that's not the whole point of this sport! I've been holding our for Ricky he is the Goat! but this is crazy he knows the fitness involved is important makes me wonder how bad he really needs this job did his wife really screw him that bad in the divorce?
I think he gets off each time someone calls him the goat so he needs this job to stay relevant.
Worried about TV...how many people won't go in person to watch 20 minute motos? I know they watch short mains in triple crown SX in person, but that's a lot different than being willing to stand out baking in the sun in the middle of nowhere all day. I don't think 20 minute motos would have the same success. Might as well make GNCC pro bike 1 hour long while were at it.
This is most logical solution I’ve heard that satisfies everyone. Anyone who wants shorter motos won’t care if the race isn’t live. Anyone who wants to keep 30 min motos won’t care if they can’t watch on NBC and have to stream through an app.
Again in order to grow the sport we have to shit on tradition and the core fans.
Isn't a majority of content consumed online in clips shorter than a minute? Our attention spans suck. Reminds me of MLB and the rise of banana ball- They have a 2 hr limit, no mound visits, no stepping out of the batter box. And it's proven to be incredibly popular. I think their social following is larger than some of the MLB teams.
I understand a more condensed format, could see 3 motos each working. I also understand how it works perfectly fine the way it is. I don't think that will aide in growing the sport. Not sure it's necessary, but tell that to the revenue driven decision makers.
Shortening a 4 hour program to a 3 hour 20 minute program doesn't solve anything.
Statistics can show when the exciting stuff happens, but only using data from one season to change the sport is just ignorant. Can we get data from 10 or 20 years? And if those last 10-minute lead changes are outliers, are they all epic? Paging SMXMuse @JoeyNovice
If they did 25 or 27 minute +2 laps, I wouldn’t be mad about it. Maybe better for tv times slots too. I really don’t care enough that I’d argue anyone’s opinion about it though tbh
Ladies and Gents may I present “grow the sport” Keep going A holes. Follow nascars lead and alienate your true core fans! 👍🏻
NBC/MX Sports/RC needs me more than I need them.
That’s the beauty of a participation sport.
I’m more than capable of avoiding a screen on Sunday morning to go riding instead.
Part of me wonders if they're trying to open the door for electric bikes in addition to the bs TV times excuses. Considering how making a battery last 30+2 at the pro level is pretty tricky, but 20+2 is a lot more realistic...
Hate it either way. Late moto charges when someone's putting it all out there, heart rate spiked, just straight up digging deeper into the pain cave than any one else, is as core moto as it gets.
Nope.
Couldn't agree more about RC. He is a patsy for sponsors and whatever the broadcast wants him to say. He gargles everyone's balls and offers little or no analysis while yelling at every exciting moment like a 4 year old. Title 24 is painful to listen to and they must be paying RV a pile of cash to be part of that joke of a pod.
Pit Row
Oh right, electric. It’s coming.
Your an idiot that doesn't use a turn signal, speeds through yellow lights, can't merge on an on ramp and likely hasn't run 1 lap at millville
What we need is shorter motos so there is more time to get personal with rider profile type segments. We also need longer infomercials between motos.
Make sure to give the Will her own segment with a rider. 20 minutes (which is about 2 questions and comments from her) will do.
70 minutes of racing and 170 minutes of fluff please.

Sorry that bothered you Ricky.
MX Sports would sell orphans to China to make a few extra bucks...
I've said it before. They know the real fans have nowhere else to go if they want to watch MX - except MXGP (and even then most still want to watch AMA because of the riders). Therefore, they can serve any old shit they want to cater for the so-called casual fan knowing the real fans will just keep on watching.
Just ask this guy. His whole 'broadcasting' career has benefitted from this situation...
Don't be surprised at RC. He'd do anything - literally anything - to keep his job at NBC.
Have you noticed RV can't even be bothered showing up with a proper mic anymore? It's supposed to be a professional podcasta and he just uses his shitty laptop mic...
Hey RC.
The inability to use English proves the post was indeed written by that old halfwit RC...
Speaking of the tracks and shitification... obviously there are changes that need to be made from time to time. But, the dumbing down of tracks and trying to satisfy the TV "time slots" have taken a toll. Look at Red Bud, for example. Has any track lost as much "track" since say, 2007, as red bud? My dad brought us there in 07 for the first time and it was amazing to see. Fast forward and the track has lost 25+ seconds a lap and many prior sections no longer exist. I get it, more spectator areas blah blah. But its a staggering difference. It's also at the point where getting a MXON is almsot a kiss of death to your beloved national track here (see Ironman last year). I'm from MN and as much as I'd love to see Millville get one, I'm worried about the further dumbification of the track that could be implemented and be hard to reverse. I guess TV rules now, but we may have sold the core of sport to try to sell it to people who don't care that much about it anyways and it may not move the needle enough to take it to the next level, whatever that perceived level is. Idk man.
