Yeah because there’s absolutely no USA guys who can ride or win…
You've had a proper swing at something nobody said.
At what point did i say that? That's far from the truth.
My argument was against old mate saying "Outside of the America ,the riders are one trick ponies . They focus 100 percent on outdoors".
i disagreed and than you made your irrelevant comment?
Sheesh, and here i am thinking its just my wife who likes to jump to conclusions for the sake of hearing her own voice.
This is such a dumb argument. Why were we so good and competitive from the 1980’s all the way up until Villopoto and Dungeys retirements? We’ve been doing the SX and MX series all this time and have had elite talents like MC, RC, JS7, RD, RV, ET, TP199, etc. Now all of a sudden SX is the reason we’re not as competitive? Nah. It’s because the guys in the MXGP series have adapted and upped the way they prepare in the amateur ranks.
Like it or not, Deegan (and possibly Sexton if he gets his things figured out) is the only American who will be somewhat competitive with the Lawrence bro’s for the next couple years in both SX and MX. Throw in the Coenen bro’s and it’s even more bleak for the Americans.
I don’t care what country the racers come from. I just enjoy seeing the top talent go head to head. But anyone who believes the American riders are competitive is just plain blind. Can anyone honestly look at the current crop of 250 riders and say there’s a single American who they think will be a future podium contender in the 450’s, much less a title contender?
The only reasons are fate and luck.
Fate that the Lawrences are Australian, they could have easily been American.
And luck that the Chinese or Indian culture does not have interest in Mx, because with populations like that there must be dozens of Jetts over there.

The LL/training facility model is broken. The guy that benefits from it the most is also very influential with the media so nothing is said.
I know you're just using him as an example but I still have to interject. The Outdoor Warrior would barely crack the top 10 in MXGP - much like his performance in AMA MX. Did you hear Stew on the broadcast when Lucas Coenen passed Fat Boy like he was standing still? 'Hi Cooper...bye Cooper'.
Cooper has one foot in retirement
Hey Brian.
The best SX and MX riders are not American.
Young adults today can't yield n merge on interstate ramps, can't stop n start at stop signs, can't use turn signals, can't dim hi beams.
It's not they're fault, morons are raised by morons
I get that they tuned pro awhile ago, the point I’m making is they should be running up front on 450s right now but injuries ruined em. Every other country sans France would be devastated if it happened to them. I wouldn’t bet on Kitchen for anything, he has to win a 250 SX title next year and he’s More of hot and cold thing, Hymas needs to stay healthy.
The 10-20 range has almost always been faster in the GPs than here. Nothing new, problem is no one gives a hoot and he’s only in top 10 due to injuries. He’s was beat by nearly 100 seconds on moto 1 and lapped in moto 2. I bet in the GPs he wasn’t beat by that much usually.
I'm a firm believer that the facility trend and low volume of proper racing is the biggest reason for the steady decline of American based riders. And that people still to this day use SX as the reason for other continents catching up and leaving US based riders behind. SX has been the focus for 30 years, and America dominated for decades while focusing on SX. The issue with believing this is that you wont do anything to change the trend, so basically this will only continue.
Europeans (and Aussies too i assume) race so much more, train on so many diverse tracks and conditions.
But USA is such a huge country, with the biggest industry and most resources available. So obviously there will be supertalented riders like Deegan once in awhile and there will be much more good rides available that makes it look like the field is deep. But gone are the days of America having 20 world class riders unless some serious changes are made.
And btw, you wont make any progress if your answer to the problem is that the kids are soft these days. a 14 year old kid in USA is the same as a 14 year old kid in the Netherlands or Australia.
Edit: And lets not forget that they European based riders do much more than the EMX series. They also race various national championships and also regional local races.
The top elite have always won by this much or more over the majority of the factory field. Hell, RC won by 20-30 seconds all the time. So did Stewart. Villo and dungey were that much up on the rest of the field constantly also. It's the nature of the sport. We actually have 4 guys pretty close right now in speed. With 2-3 who would be similar to those 4 hurt.
He has two feet in McDonalds...
Americans are entitled, stupid, and lazy. “Oh, it’s hot, I can’t train. Oh, I have an ingrown toenail, I need to take the season off. Oh, I hurt my knee so I need to take a year off. I’m just going to surf and sit on the couch. Oh, my bike setup is wrong so I can only ride at 50%. But I still need my paycheck.”
What place did you finish Saturday?
Sort of agree with lack of racing and facilities have an impact. Todays big am races are spreadout and makes it very expensive.
Imagine if we had a real orginization that supported the developmemt of US racing at the am level. i.e. regional series that would allow more access for those families doing it on thier own, kids who go to school etc...
What past superstars actually developed at a facility? I know lots of pros have, but any 450 MX champions?
I dont think Stewart, Charmiceal, Villipoto, Dungey trained at a facility? Did Anderson, Fernadis, Sexton? And im referring as amauters not as pros.
Seems for SX it would be pretty hard to get access to a real SX track other than a facility? And need an actual coach with SX expeirence, not just a dad who raced local 30+
Pit Row
Same goes for Canada; we used to have guys that could actually compete, run top 5 in the US Nationals and actually place in the top 10 at MXDN. Not anymore. We have a couple top level guys now and locally not a lot of interest. No national in the once hotbed of mx/arenacross, BC and the last CDN Nat track here closing. Popkum closing but another new, smaller, facility opening up. Thank god for Trystan Hart, a top level hard enduro multi time champion, for holding up our end. On the plus side; the racing has been great.
Yep.
The guys from Bud racing did great this week
Not that it reflects their results on track, but it truly baffles me to hear that there’s kids in amateurs who don’t even put their bike on the stand. And apparently some kids can’t even strap their helmet?
My dad had one arm. I had no choice but to learn how to get my bike on a stand and strap my own helmet. He did have one hell of a golf swing though.
Exactly. We are all humans, it doesn’t matter where you are born. The most important aspect is how you train and prepare throughout your amateur career. Once they get to the pro ranks, most of them have every opportunity to sustain and get better because of the foundation they’ve built during amateurs. But the Americans come in so far behind when it comes to experience and preparation that it’s nearly impossible to catch back up. The futures program in SX is a step in the right direction, which is why we see these kids show up and perform better right off the bat. We need something similar in MX at these rounds. Even if they did an east coast and west coast series at all the pro nationals, it would help a ton and cut back on the travel. Kind of like how the MXGP only has them run the European rounds.
As far as comparing to the history of the sport, Sexton is 26 years old. Ryan Villopoto had retired by 26. Carmichael retired a year later. Dungey retired a year later.
Sexton is basically old. There should be more American 20-year-olds competing for wins in the 450 class. Who is the best American in the 450 class (after Deegan) under age 25? Garrett Marchbanks?
It really does seem like there is a generation of great moto riders missing from America.
Sacha caused a meltdown lmao relax
I'd counter with, you do know RV, RD are two of the best to ever do it, right? Race results don't give a rip about personality.
A country founded on immigration doesn’t care where you came from.
Welcome one and all. Some will even become citizens like our grandparents did.
More importantly to me is 15 man gates in Europe. What’s up with that? AMA series is strong and is well represented at MXON also
It’s cyclical, eventually the US will rise again. Guys like RC ,MC , Bubba and RV2 don’t grow on trees. They will show up eventually.💯
Hmm guess you missed prado on green. I think his bike setup was wrong and he was attempting to ride at 0% lmao.
Don’t blame him now after seeing chase and I’ve come around to him, but I wouldn’t classify any of the American riders as entitled stupid and lazy…
At least we learned how to brush our teeth regularly and properly.😂
