Only $10 for all 2026 SX, MX, and SMX series.
They need to remove the grates and start on dirt. There is a crash every race it seems in MX and SX. Too many good guys get sidelines on the 1st turn.
The need to remove all starting gadgets. No more grates, fork devices, ECU gimmicks…none of it.
Who was injured?
The problem is the 1st corner, remove it and the problem goes away

First turn crashes have always been an issue. Nature of 40 guys at max HR trying to compete for inches, I do think all the starting "devices" should be history though. Grates and hole shot devices specifically
Exactly! Just skip the first turn and go straight to the second turn.
Time for straight rhythm! 😂
They should just eliminate starts all together.
😩
Best suggestion EVER.
Ingenious !!!
Never see a 1st turn crash in drag racing!
Would be interesting if there ever adopt a formula 1 style system with elimination qualifying and a start that is determined based on qualifying order, structured like starts after a red flag.
Even for select races could be interesting.
Is there any actual data to support the theory that first turn crashes/injuries are getting worse?
My thoughts too. Build space between riders by letting skill be a differentiator. I'd get rid of the traction control race wide though. Let throttle control be a differentiator again.
That wmx rider almost died and ap looked like a Roman gladiator getting carried out of the pit…
Pit Row
I have raced at Redbud that right then left then down hill blind jump is sketchy , ask Mike a. Too tight , just make the corners wider. Like glen helen. Might be a good start to trying to improve this very serious issue?
imagine a veery wide straight rhythm with 40 riders lining up damn
They should go straight to turn 2.
I agree but what’s the thinking on how this helps first turn crashes? Is it just less mechanical equalization/advantage for bad starters?
It should allow for more mistakes off the launch and also lower speeds so it should spread the field out a touch and also bring the mph down a touch again.
Longer start straights, bigger, faster first turns, dirt pads, no start devices, same ecu map all moto including start.
Bam, everything about the start would be instantly better.
You get more separation between riders without start devices and grates so they are spread out just a little bit more by the time they get to the first turn, and they get to the turn going just that little bit slower.
I've also noticed at least in my own racing that uphill starts tend to have less first turn mayhem, I think because of the slower speed at the first turn and ease of breaking. Back when Budds Creek had that super steep uphill start first turn pileups were really rare, at least in the ama d7 races I was running.
And every rider had their own slot to stay in!
20 rider gates. Send the weak home.
Hell they only show 4 or 5 riders on tv anyway.
wouldn't that just make it a drag race? you have to turn at some point....
